Thinking about swapping out my laptop GPUs! I've got an NVIDIA GeForce GTX series setup right now, but I want to switch to a single Intel Iris Xe with 4GB
Does anyone know if this will actually work? I heard some rumor that you have to keep both graphics cards identical for the system to even boot, which makes zero sense to me. My plan is just to unplug the bridge cable, swap the card, install the new drivers, and call it a day

Thanks a bunch!!!

Exactly, there’s just no logic to it.

Besides, I can't think of a single real-world scenario where someone would try swapping two different GPUs for just one in a laptop.

So I sent my graphics cards over to an authorized Dell service center and they told me both of them are totally fried... right now I only have enough cash for one new card, and the guys at the Best Buy where I usually shop are being super difficult about it, so yeah, that's the situation.

Good grief 😁

Why don't you just ask them if they'll let you "test out" a single one? Of course, if they're planning to mislead you, they'll do it...

It's essentially two distinct pieces of hardware...
