Well, yeah, you definitely do. 👍
You'll need a firearm permit and a specific registration that dictates what kind of ammunition you're allowed to purchase.
For instance, if you have a permit for a small-caliber rifle, you wouldn't be able to go out and buy shotgun shells or handgun rounds.

Also, if you walk into a sporting goods store and ask for .308, you might get some funny looks since that's more of a hunter's term. You might find someone willing to sell you a couple of boxes, but usually, they won't budge without a permit.

Is .308 Win a popular caliber for you when it comes to hunting rifles? It’s relatively affordable, and I guess there is just such a massive variety of grain weights and specific load models available
