So, I sustained an injury while skating back in September of last year. I snapped a photo of my leg, and the doctor gave me this incredibly rushed assessment, basically telling me it was nothing and that if I just rested, it would clear up in no time. Well, I did rest, and I suppose the swelling eventually went down and the pain started to taper off, but things haven't quite gone to plan. While the pain during walking completely vanished about a month after the incident, I still haven't been able to return to my full strength in the sport. I frequently experience these sharp, sudden stabs of pain in that specific joint while I'm riding—exactly in the area I've marked in the photo. On top of that, I’m dealing with pains and mobility limitations that I definitely never had before, and I don't experience any of this in my other leg. For instance, I can't perform a full squat with my heels touching the floor. My good leg can squat quite a bit lower without issue, whereas when I try to go as deep as possible on the injured side, the pain kicks in immediately.

Could anyone perhaps explain why this is happening or why it isn't healing the way the doctor promised it would?
I actually intended to book an appointment with a physical therapist, but I was told that I shouldn't even bother calling to schedule anything for another three months before they could get me into a clinic in a suburb outside of Chicago, and frankly, I just don't have the extra cash to shell out for a private clinic consultation right now.
