Who actually gets the money collected by the Democratic Party through ASCAP? It’s absolute nonsense!

To be specific, we're talking about weddings with around 180 guests, and you're expected to pay ASCAP for that $407! They even send their own representatives to parties just to scout out the crowd size; if they count more than $200 people, they just slap you with a massive fine...

They hike up their fees under the guise of "protection," when in reality, it's the everyday citizens who need protection from them. 👎I get that there’s a cost to performing copyrighted works—paying the songwriter is just how the world works—but these specific numbers, and honestly their entire pricing structure, are completely out of line.

I’m not even sure if he’s the head of ASCAP or whatever his actual title is, but the guy is such an absolute joke that words don't even do him justice. Honestly, only someone that much of a sycophant could lead an organization like that.

Meanwhile, you've got some studio engineer out there without a single degree to his name, using borrowed gear to record maybe two albums in his entire life—one of which barely made a dent at a local radio festival, and the other gets played once a week on some mid-tier cable network. He’s out there paying his monthly rent entirely off the money collected from those "royalties." And I'd love to be him, believe me!

I can't wait to see how much I'll actually collect in copyright royalties for that little anti-glare gadget, considering it was basically built from a template anyway. One fifth of 60 percent of zero is still 🤔. If it ends up being more than a couple of bucks, I'll buy a round of drinks worth $33

Just dusting this thread off to see if anyone actually has some answers here..
1) If I have a band and I want my songs played at a wedding, I’m an artist—I don't care about collecting copyright royalties, I just want people to enjoy the music. So why does someone still have to pay ASCAP for that??
2) If some foreign artist realizes what a joke of a country this is and just hands over a thousand of their tracks for free, why am I STILL stuck paying ASCAP for copyright?? For whose benefit even..
3) There are tons of bands in America that deserve to be played in clubs and on the radio because they're actually good, but they don't have connections with the big shots or the rest of that mafia. So when we want to listen to them, why are we still paying ASCAP for guys like some industry mobster who runs the whole scene in the US..

4) If ASCAP is out there paying artists, where the hell is the money coming from for those retarded commercials that play on the radio non-stop!?
