AVG alerts

I am seriously getting sick of this marketing

This pop-up window keeps jumping right in my face constantly, and I can barely even browse the forum without it getting in the way!

Never happened for me... try getting rid of those forum ads, using AdBlock or whatever... there's a setting somewhere to strip those out, maybe then it'll stop popping up everywhere 🤷

I'm also running into this frustrating issue with the McAfee alert—it’s quite persistent. Has anyone managed to find a reliable fix for it yet?

I’m honestly not quite sure what’s going on here. I actually reached out to our tech admin just yesterday to see if they could shed some light on this, so I’ll be sure to jump back in and let everyone know the second I hear anything useful. So sorry for the headache!

Just uninstall it. Honestly, McAfee is just unnecessary junk, kind of like most other bloatware out there. AdBlock is the only way to go.

It’s pretty obvious that McAfee is the culprit here.
I’m running Avast on my machine and haven't run into a single hiccup. Oh, and by the way... every single ad is blocked, too.

granitegull51, honestly, McAfee is one of the absolute best antiviruses out there on the market, so I just can't wrap my head around how you could possibly claim it's garbage when it actually managed to sniff out something that all those other programs completely missed!🤷

They probably didn't find anything because most people already have their ads blocked. 😁The last two times something like this popped up, it was all just an issue with advertisements.

What browser are you using? If you're on Firefox, just install AdBlock. It makes surfing the web a breeze—none of that garbage popping up everywhere.

Well, there are ad blockers available for pretty much every browser out there.
I personally use Chrome; you just install an ad blocker and call it a day. 🤷

Hey ladies—I just finished installing AdBlock on Chrome. The ads are finally gone—which is a relief—but I am still getting that same annoying alert.

Is this happening across the entire forum, or is it just specific PDFs?

Look, I've got basically every single ad blocked—I haven't seen a single advertisement on this forum in years. I even use that one specific script that nobody ever talks about so the forum layout stays nice and wide for me... I'm running AdBlock and everything else you can think of, yet McAfee keeps flagging it as malware.

So yeah, it’s definitely not because of ads 😉

Every single time I try to reply to a thread, log in, or even just start a new discussion, this annoying pop-up window keeps jumping right in my face! I'm using Google Chrome at the moment, but I’ve already gone ahead and tested it on both Chrome and Internet Explorer, and honestly, it’s happening everywhere. I was thinking about maybe disabling my McAfee just to see if that fixes it, but I'm a little hesitant because I really don't want to leave myself wide open to some nasty virus if I turn off my protection 😕

McAfee occasionally acts a bit weird when it comes to tracking cookies. You might want to try installing Ghostery. Or just run an update on your antivirus. 🙂

So, starting today, this warning kept popping up every single time I tried to load any webpage, not just on the forum. It was getting so incredibly annoying that I finally just lost my cool, uninstalled AVG, and then did a clean reinstall.
Now, the damn thing has stopped showing up.

Honestly, every single antivirus and anti-malware program on the market brags about catching "threats," even when those threats are totally insignificant.

In my opinion, you’re better off just uninstalling your antivirus altogether to save on system resources and just run manual cleanups every now and then using tools like Hijackthis. Most people tend to blow viruses and malware way out of proportion; they aren't nearly as scary as everyone makes them out to be. 🙂
