I guess I’ve brought up Mirrored yet again this week, so here we go...



It’s not just that Damnocracy is a great supergroup—this lineup is pretty solid too.
John Stanier from Helmet 😍 absolutely kills on drums, as you'd expect, while Ian Williams from Don Caba (that American Peach Piti) handles the guitar work, and Tyondai Braxton (whose dad is Anthony—if you want the deep lore, ask David Sullivan4, he’s the only one who actually knows 😬) does guitars, keys, and vocals. Then there's the fourth guy, David Konopka, who jumps between guitar and bass; he isn't a huge name, at least not to me. 🙂

The genre is math rock, but the kind you can actually dance to. They’ve got groove for days—man, they're repetitive enough to totally hypnotize you. 😵

They're on Warp right now. All their releases look all scuffed up, which kind of bugs me, but I've been listening to EP C/B EP, which is just two EPs: EP C and EP B (weird, I know), plus their latest, Mirrored, from this year. On the newer stuff, they started using these spacey vocals that remind me of a Smurf choir, or maybe those two chipmunks from the cartoons.
Now it sounds like music from the future. The future might actually be alright. 😍

And the video for the track Atlas from the last release—it's a total hit, massive as the Rocky Mountains, and the video is beautiful.

I don't know about anyone else playing, but the best record is definitely DON CAB II orange—you clearly have no clue what you're talking about, honestly, you're just being lame here.

Look, Battles isn't bad or anything, but I just get this negative vibe from those Smurfs singing 😠 and all that folk stuff they're trying to pull with that folk sound

This is actually the first thread where I feel like I have a better handle on my buddy Alex Rogers91's taste than anyone else here 😍 and honestly, I’ve been spinning the Atlas track on loop—it’s got me feeling absolutely dizzy, almost like I just polished off half a bottle of bourbon... though, to be fair, bourbon is delicious, so I can't complain too much... anyway, I'm a huge fan of Battles

Those ambient tracks with all the noise on C/B are just over the top, honestly.
The groovier stuff is alright, I guess, but they actually piqued my interest with this new one—I kind of want to give it a listen. 🙂

But those guitars? Man, they are just straight-up terrible. :S :S :S 🙏

I suppose, by all laws of psycho-physical attraction, I really ought to like them. I’ve been listening to Mirrored on and off for God knows how long now, and I’ve realized that I always seem to lose my patience right around the fifth track; either I just skip it entirely, or my focus simply evaporates and I end up ignoring the rest of the 😁. Though, who knows, maybe if I actually manage to make it through the whole album before the year ends, it might just find its way onto my favorites list. Right now, though, it’s mostly just a bit irritating.

Man, I didn't even know about Mirrored! But I've got their stuff now and they are seriously the best...

I just finished listening to EP B and EP C... I’m currently going through EP B, and I have to admit, it feels much more approachable to me than the 🙂 album, honestly. I think I might actually really enjoy this one.

Man, those are my least favorite. Thank God Tyondai Braxton calmed things down on the album, so we don't have to deal with that.
