I’m really hoping to connect with anyone who has any experience with this specific type of therapy—whether you’re currently on it, used to be, or just know someone who is. I’ve been prescribed Remicade for my ulcerative colitis, though from what I gather, they use it for Crohn’s and rheumatoid arthritis too... I haven't really looked into other conditions, honestly. It’s incredibly expensive, and while the results can be life-changing, the risks involved are massive. In other parts of the world, people stay on these biologics for ten years or more, but here in the US, insurance companies often cap coverage at maybe two years—which is just maddening! Because of those arbitrary limits, patients face a much higher risk of relapse or developing antibodies later on, which usually means the next step is surgery. I would truly love to hear from someone who was on biological therapy, successfully transitioned off of it, and managed to stay in remission for a long period afterward...😁
