A good friend of mine decided to make a major lifestyle change about four months ago. She started at 230 pounds, and through a disciplined diet and light exercise, she’s already dropped 30 pounds...
But now we've hit a bit of a snag. Because she’s gone through three pregnancies and carried quite a bit of extra weight, she's dealing with significant loose skin around her midsection.

Does anyone know the best way to tackle this?
Is it something she can fix with specific workouts, or is surgery the only real option? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a specialist she should see for a consultation?

Thanks!

Through surgery or just lifestyle changes?

From what I gather, it’s strictly surgical. It's the standard protocol following procedures like gastric banding.

I mean, it’s totally possible she dropped the weight fast... skin is pretty elastic, after all. If she's young, it should hopefully snap back into place over time. If not... well, maybe some plastic surgery would be the way to go.
That’s exactly why everyone tells you to take it slow when losing weight—so you don't end up in that situation.

I don't think she’s losing weight too quickly... especially when you consider she swapped out frying in oil for cooking methods without fat, ditched the bread and heavy dinners for yogurt and fruit, and started drinking about a pint of water before every breakfast...
She isn't starving herself either. She just traded two burger patties and four ounces of potatoes for one patty and an ounce and a half of potatoes.

Olivia Wood82’s friend started thinking about her appearance way too late; she really should have been more careful while she was busy snacking on Hershey's bars... At this point, there's no fixing those skin issues without going under the knife! What can you do? It is what it is. At least she dropped the weight, and that counts for something (a lot).
