Hi everyone—so, I had my upper braces put in back on April 19, 2016, and the verdict from my orthodontist is that I’m going to need a corticotomy. It turns out I still have a baby canine stuck in there that just refuses to budge, which is essentially blocking my permanent tooth from making its entrance... So, I was wondering if anyone here has any insight into the typical timeline between getting braces and actually undergoing the corticotomy procedure? My understanding is that they first need to create enough space through orthodontic movement to give that permanent tooth a path to follow, and only then does the surgery happen. If anyone has gone through this or can offer some perspective, I’d truly appreciate the help.
