In English, it’s called "winged scapula."

My right shoulder blade sticks out. When I'm sitting down for lunch, for instance, I have to sit perfectly upright—otherwise, I get this intense, burning sensation. I managed to deal with it for a long time, but honestly, I've had enough. I also have mild scoliosis, which my doctor says is the result of too much time hunched over a computer screen...

Can anyone recommend some exercises to fix this scapula issue? I'm a teenager—I've got the willpower, and that's really what matters most here.🙂

Have you had a chance to see an orthopedic specialist yet? If everything looks aligned and your bones aren't growing crookedly, I guess you might want to try some back exercises, though I think the most important thing is just focusing on your posture.
I actually dealt with something similar when I was around your age, and even now, my spine is slightly out of alignment because that’s just how I grew, I suppose. When you're standing or sitting, maybe try pulling your shoulders back as far as you can; I think that would be really helpful for opening up your chest and helping your lung capacity more than if you stay all hunched over.

My right shoulder blade is sticking out like crazy. Honestly, when I’m just sitting at the table for dinner, I have to sit perfectly upright, otherwise, I get this intense, burning sensation... I managed to push through it for a long time, but I am officially fed up with it. I also have some mild scoliosis which my doctor said is basically because I spend way too much time hunched over my computer screen...

Can anyone recommend some exercises to help fix this scapula issue? I'm a teenager, I actually have the motivation to do the work—which is half the battle, right? 🙂

You need to go see an orthopedist and a physiatrist immediately.

For years now, I’ve had a lump above my left shoulder blade. It has reached the point where it’s visible through my clothing, and I suspect my entire left scapula is beginning to shift out of alignment. There is no pain involved; it turns out a muscle has simply ceased to function properly. Is there a risk of this becoming more complicated? Are there specific exercises designed to restore normalcy to this area? I find that whenever I attempt to correct my posture, discomfort arises, as if maintaining an upright position feels unnatural—which, frankly, it does. Do I need surgery, or what is the protocol here?
