Budget controller recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a decent, budget-friendly controller that actually works on Windows 10?

I’ve got this old one lying around, but I can't find any drivers for Windows 10 anywhere. It's basically a paperweight at this point.

This one doesn't look too pricey, and honestly, it has all the right buttons for Windows games. To me, it feels a bit silly to go out and buy those flashy controllers that use numbers instead of the standard X, A, B, Y layout—you know, the way they're supposed to be.
As for the drivers, if you're running Windows 10, it should pretty much detect and install everything automatically.

Windows recognizes it and installs fine, and when I go into device properties to test the buttons, everything looks perfect. But the second I launch a game—any game, really, like NFS, including stuff that worked flawlessly on Windows 7—not a single button works. Total dead end.

I was digging through some Microsoft forums and saw people saying certain controllers have this specific headache with Windows 10. They suggested uninstalling the controller and reinstalling it, but I've already tried that and it did absolutely nothing for me. Windows 10 sees the controller, there aren't any errors, and the button test passes with flying colors, but once the game starts? Zero points. Absolute zero.

Stealing this thread for a second, if you don't mind"😁 So, I’ve got my standard wired Xbox controller hooked up for PC gaming, but I also have this wireless one from back in the day that goes with the Xbox 360. Is there any way I can actually get that wireless unit working on my PC? Honestly, now that I've hit that 40+ milestone, I find myself wanting to play games lying down more often than not—and let me tell you, trying to stay comfortable with a wired controller is basically impossible at this point.😁
