I am considering picking up a used PC
roughly $667
with an ASUS Prime H81M-K motherboard
an Intel Pentium G3258 3.20 GHz processor
8 GB of 1866 MHz RAM
an EVGA GTX 760 FTW graphics card
a 2TB HDD
and a 32GB SSD
I was thinking about upgrading to an Intel Core i5-4460 down the road—would this motherboard be able to handle that kind of swap? Thanks!

It shouldn't be an issue, really. Just check your power supply—not because of the CPU, but because of the GPU.

The power supply is a COOLER MASTER G500 500W--solid enough for most builds

Everything should work fine. Just try swapping in any used Intel Haswell i5.

Honestly, if you ask me, getting the LED is a solid deal. Just grab it and start saving up for a beefier processor instead.

Hi there. I am looking to buy a new computer, but I am having some trouble deciding which path to take—it’s a bit like choosing between three different used cars without knowing the mileage. My budget is roughly $600-404 miles(which is about $2300-$833).

1. The first option

AMD FX-6300
NVIDIA GTX 660 2 GB
M5A78L-M LX3
8 GB RAM
500 GB HDD
COOLER MASTER ATX 550W PSU
Corsair Carbon 500 Case—this one is $567

2. The second option

CPU: AMD FX-6300—a 6-core processor running at 3.5 GHz, or up to 4.0 GHz with boost.
RAM: 8GB DDR3 HyperX Blue memory at 1600MHz
HDD: 500 GB SATA 3 HDD
VGA: GTX 750 TI, 2 GB DDR5
ATX 550W PSU
MS Dragon case—this computer is $767

3. The third option

CPU Intel Pentium G3258 3.20 GHz
EVGA GTX 760 FTW 2 GB
32 GB SanDisk SSD
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
COOLER MASTER G500 PSU
8 GB DDR3 1800 MHz RAM—this computer is $633

Additionally, I came across
an Intel Core i5-4690 processor
along with a motherboard,
a case,
and a power supply—all covered by a one-year warranty for $567. In your opinion, what would be the best choice? Best regards.

I'd probably just grab #3 and run it with the G3258 until you can save up enough for an i5.

Would you consider this worth 404 miles($833) ? Best regards

Is it wiser to pick up this
404 miles ($833)
or should I just build my own rig from scratch?

intel Core i5 4690 $417
MSI gaming case
Corsair 600W PSU $50
ASUS H81M-K 190 $63
HyperX Fury Blue RAM (2x4 GB) $115
Western Digital Black 500GB HDD $90
Everything includes a warranty—some parts for one year, others for three.
The total comes to $773
Which route should I take? Cheers!

It's basically the same thing—both clearly used
I’m guessing you can test the first one, but with the second, you won't know if it actually works until it's fully assembled

Also, if you grab that second one, you might want to pick up a fire extinguisher too; it'll really drive up the value of your build

You could probably get one without any certifications and be fine

Or just pick a different power supply altogether

Which series is that PSU?
Jokes aside, it would probably be fine, but if there's any way to avoid using a used Corsair, do it. Better to go with something less powerful but actually reliable

Wait, what are you even buying a PC for? Like, what's the actual plan there?

I'm looking to use this setup for programming and graphic design—plus, I want to make sure it can handle any major game releases coming out in the next year or two.

You’ll probably need to pick up a GPU and maybe swap out the power supply for gaming... otherwise, I guess the build is fine enough.
