Bump on my eye

Hey there,

So, I noticed this little bump popped up on my white of the eye recently, though honestly, it doesn't bother me at all—I probably wouldn't have even clocked it myself if someone else hadn't pointed it out. Since the earliest appointment I could snag with an ophthalmologist isn't until June 20th, I was just wondering if anyone else here has dealt with something similar before.

On a whiteout?! Hmm...
The only time I’ve ever had blood near my eye was
right on the eyelid—just a stye.
I definitely haven't heard of this one before.

Changes on the sclera

You can actually check the front of your eye using a mirror, too. Patients often spot these yellowish bumps themselves on the clear conjunctiva covering the white part of the eye. Everyone asks me, one after another, what on earth these things are growing on them. I mean, I’m glad they’re looking out for themselves, really. If they notice those kinds of changes—which are usually benign, by the way—they’ll probably react to other stuff too. I just try to calm them down by explaining that those pale yellow clumps are pretty common in people who strain their eyes when looking at things, which makes them blink more. Then the eyelids end up constantly pinching that horizontal fold of the conjunctiva. It creates this sort of "blister" along the horizontal line, right at the eye's equator. The conjunctiva thickens up and fills with a fatty substance that gives it that yellow look. Honestly, it might just be an aesthetic issue, but it’s completely harmless. You don't even need to remove it because sometimes the scar from surgery looks even more obvious. The goal should really be getting good vision with some corrective lenses so the eye stops straining, and then stop all that excessive blinking.
But, listen, a change on the white of the eye could also be brown, kind of like a mole. Just like any skin mole—which, you know, everyone is talking about and writing about in the news lately—a mole on the eye can be malignant if it shows up suddenly when it wasn't there before. See an ophthalmologist immediately!
Now, if it’s been there since childhood, and the color, size, and shape stay exactly the same, then it’s most likely fine and you just need to keep an eye on it with occasional checkups.

I’ve been dealing with a bump on my eye for quite some time now. It flared up once before and went away, but now it’s back. It’s a lump on my eyelid, and my doctor confirmed it isn't a stye. Previously, she told me I could still wear makeup, but now I’m feeling pretty unsure. Is it actually a good idea to apply makeup right now? Thanks!
