Hello, I had a quick question,
for about two months now, I've had this spot on my upper lip that looks somewhat like a pimple, but it isn't quite that. It’s almost the same color as my lip, maybe slightly reddish, and it's pretty small, though I can feel it under my lip. I also noticed some tiny white dots—maybe four or five of them—around the edges of that area and near the center of my lip. There's absolutely no pain involved. Since it hasn't gone away after all this time, I got a bit worried and went to see my doctor, but she just took a look and told me it’s nothing and will clear up on its own. Honestly, she didn't seem to take my concerns very seriously. Anyway, does anyone have any idea what this might be or what my next step should be? Maybe see a dermatologist...

I've had this thing on my upper lip for about two months now. It looks somewhat like a pimple, but it isn't. The color is close to my natural lip tone, maybe a little reddish, and it's pretty small, though I can feel it when I run my tongue against it. On top of that, I noticed some tiny white dots—maybe four or five—near the edges of this "growth" and somewhere in the middle of my lip. It’s completely painless. Since it hasn't gone away on its own after all this time, I naturally got freaked out and asked my doctor about it, but she just took a look and told me it's nothing and will pass. Honestly, she didn't seem to take me very seriously. Anyway, does anyone have any idea what this could be or what my next step should be? Maybe see a dermatologist?

Are you a smoker?
If you are, get a referral for a dermatologist or a surgeon to have them take a look. Based on how you described it, it reminds me of something an acquaintance of mine had that turned out to be caused by smoking.

If you think it's getting worse, you should probably grab a referral for a dermatologist or a surgeon to have them take a look. Based on how you described it, it reminds me of something an acquaintance of mine had that turned out to be caused by smoking...

Thanks so much for the reply! How did everything turn out with your friend? Is she doing better now... If you don't mind, could you ask what her diagnosis was? I’m not a smoker, but I'm wondering if it could be the same thing. I’d see a dermatologist, but by the time they actually call me in for an appointment, I'll probably be losing my mind from the stress. Plus, my current doctor is honestly just completely useless...

I’ve noticed these tiny little white spots on my upper lip, right in both corners, too. They aren't really visible unless I pull my lip taut or if I’m looking really closely in the mirror. Honestly, though, I don't think it's anything serious, so I'm not losing any sleep over it 😎

Ronald Campbell said:Thanks so much for getting back to me! So, what ended up happening with your friend? Did things get sorted out? And if you don't mind asking, could you tell me what she actually had? I want to see if my symptoms match up. I’m not a smoker, but maybe it’s something else I could be dealing with. Honestly, by the time I finally get an appointment at the dermatologist, I’ll probably have lost my mind from worrying—plus, my current doctor is completely useless;(

She developed some kind of cyst because she always held her cigarette in that exact spot, and she has this habit of pressing it against her lips when she inhales. Her test results weren't exactly great in the end, but don't let that stress you out right now. She managed to get it resolved. Look, it could be a million different things, and since you mentioned you don't smoke, your best bet is to go straight to a specialist and just get some real answers.

For sure! I'm going to grab a referral so I can finally put this to rest. Until a professional looks at it, I know I won't be able to stop worrying...
Thanks so much for the reply...

Heh, that’s nothing. Everyone has those, it's totally normal...🙂
