I’ve honestly never run into anything quite like this before.
My sister dropped off a laptop at my place that had a fresh install of Windows 7 on it, so I started getting everything set up—just the basic essentials, you know?
Next on the list was Mozilla Firefox. Everything seems to be running fine, but the second I try to pull up Google, it just hits a wall. It won't load the page at all; instead, I just get this error message popping up at the bottom.
The weird part is, it’s doing the exact same thing when I try to use Internet Explorer.
Anyone have any clue what might be causing this?

If the issue is strictly limited to her laptop, we might be looking at a botched Windows installation—especially if she’s running some sketchy, unlicensed version...

Maybe try a clean reinstall using a different bootable drive.
Another possibility is that the OS got compromised by some junk software that was carrying a virus in the first place.

Did you happen to install some random firewall recently?

Unbelievable, you actually nailed it.
I had a pro technician handle the Windows installation, and everything was running like a dream—except for that Google issue.
Just checked the system clock, and turns out the date was stuck back in January 2009.
Fixed the settings, and now everything is working perfectly.
Man, I never would have even thought to check that.
Thanks
