I recently picked up a Samsung P2470HD, but I am having a difficult time actually getting any television to display on the screen.

My current setup is configured as follows:

I have run an Ethernet cable from my router directly to my Xfinity box.

On the P2470HD interface, I have the option to search for a signal via Scart or through an antenna.

In an attempt to view the Xfinity feed, I selected the Scart input to search for a signal, yet nothing was detected.

I also tried connecting a small indoor antenna—which does not require external power—and attempted to scan for an antenna signal, but I could not find any digital or analog signals at all.

Does anyone have any advice to offer? I find it hard to believe that a brand-new monitor simply won't function as a television.

Does it have an HDMI port? If it does, just hook it up through there... As for the SD card, it should work fine; I’ve got a similar monitor at my place and it works perfectly for me. Unplug all those extra cables, pop the SD card in, turn on DirecTV, and hit the "source" button—just keep clicking until you find the right input

Nothing was actually cut out. I just found this image online and circled the parts that were missing from my view.

It does have an HDMI port! But how exactly does that work, and what kind of cable am I supposed to buy?

So, I should just unplug the Scart and plug the HDMI into the DirecTV box instead?

Could you please explain this in a bit more detail? This gives me hope, because I can't find anything via the Scart connection on the DirecTV box.

Alright, I managed to track down an HDMI cable so I can get everything connected to my PC...

Do you think that was the reason why my DirecTV signal wasn't showing up on the television?

I'll likely need to pick up a new HDMI cable at Best Buy, wouldn't you agree?

Just grab an HDMI cable—you can find them at any Best Buy or even a CVS. Plug one end into the monitor and the other into the cable box. Toss those old SCART and useless cables aside, hit the "source" button on the monitor, and select "HDMI"... simple as that!

Well, I went ahead and picked up a new HDMI cable, but unfortunately, it hasn't solved a thing...

Please take a look at these images to see exactly what is happening:

I finally figured it out... you don't even need to hunt through the HDMI settings 😂

The whole thing tripped me up because I had to cycle the power on my DirecTV box; it didn't register the signal immediately, so I honestly thought I was just staring at a dead screen!

Since we are already discussing this monitor, I have run into another absolute mystery regarding its behavior:
Even with my PC powered down, I hear this distinct sound coming from the monitor every three minutes—it's like this short, sharp little chime: "trrrn"

If I turn the monitor off using the remote while the PC is still shut down, that same sound plays every three minutes!

I’ve even tried muting the TV volume to zero, but it makes no difference...

I can actually hear it from the other room, which makes falling asleep in the evening nearly impossible. Because of this, I haven't been turning my PC off at all lately; as long as the computer is running, the noise stops...

Does anyone have any advice or insight on how to fix this?
