Can't install Windows Media Player

This software is critical for me because I can't get my phone to sync with my PC—whenever I try to connect, the phone tells me to install Windows Media Player, but then when I attempt the installation, it throws some error regarding Win32 and just fails. Any idea how to fix this? I'm running Windows 7 x64. I already tried using Microsoft's built-in repair tools, but that was a total waste of time. Can someone please provide a direct link specifically for Windows 7? I don't need anything for Windows XP.

I need a link for Windows Media Player for Windows 7—specifically the x64 version. All the sites I’ve checked only have versions for Windows XP or Vista, and if they claim to have one for Windows 7, it's always for the 32-bit architecture. Please, I just need a link for Windows 7 x64. I’ve searched the entire internet and nothing comes up.

Feel free to grab the x32 version—it’ll run just fine on an x64 system anyway. 🙂 I mean, if Microsoft doesn't have an x64 version of the media player listed on their site, then it basically doesn't exist, right? It's like they didn't even bother making one—you can just take that as your answer.

It's already built into Windows 7—you don't need to go hunting for it. Just head over to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or OFF.
