Can't open this message

So, I've been seeing a "new message" notification sitting there for a few days now, but whenever I actually click on it, there's absolutely nothing there. To make matters worse, the person supposedly sending it shows a timestamp of January 1, 1970.

I’d appreciate it if someone who actually knows what they're doing could fix this. Honestly, having a constant "new message" alert hanging over my head is driving me nuts. Thanks.

Same issue here. Someone... or something! ... sent me a message dated 1/1/1970 at 1:00 AM.
Since the message is coming from the distant past, I can only assume I am The Chosen One! (for something)

Given that I’m unable to actually read the message, I’m fairly certain I won't be able to save the world. That one is on you, Reddit ☕

Basically, if anyone else is dealing with this—the annoying constant notification for unread messages—here’s how you fix it:

For Chrome users: (it works the same on other browsers, though the "view page source" step might be labeled slightly differently)
Right-click anywhere on your inbox page -> view page source -> CTRL + F -> search for "showpm" -> find that mysterious ID (you'll recognize it by the number following "pmid") -> copy that number -> paste it over the ID of a message you've already read in your inbox -> hit enter -> done.

It’ll load an empty private message sent by "Patient," and that bolded "1" next to your unread messages will disappear. The actual message stays right where it was in your inbox. 🙂
