I’ve run into a bit of a situation... my lips have been incredibly dry lately—not quite cracked yet, just parched—and I’ve been using Vaseline pretty regularly to protect them from the cold weather.
But tonight, things took a turn. My lip actually split open—it looks almost like a clean cut, quite deep, too. It’s bleeding, though nothing extreme... I applied some Vaseline and it seems fine as long as I don't move my mouth much. What should I be using to treat this? Is there a specific ointment I need? Will this kind of split heal on its own, or should I go out and pick up a specialized cream?😕Thanks, and please excuse the silly topic!

It’ll probably just clear up on its own, but if you're dealing with dry lips, try using a salve or some Burt's Bees calendula balm—you can grab one at any CVS for a couple of bucks. Both are solid options, though honestly, that calendula stuff works slightly better for lip repair. If you stick with it, you shouldn't have to deal with this annoyance anymore. 😉

Are you sure that stuff actually works for you? Personally, those kinds of products just mess with me. They make my lips feel dry and flaky.

Hey! I deal with the exact same lip cracking issues every single winter. 😢 I know how miserable it feels. Like I mentioned before, try using some honey; it works overnight. You can just grab a small jar to toss in your bag, though it isn’t really meant for long-term use. It’s a bit like an antibiotic—your skin eventually gets used to it, so you shouldn't rely on it forever. Right now, I’m using this great herbal balm called Olival. You can pick it up at a CVS for about five bucks, and the container is huge compared to that honey stuff. It lasts forever and works wonders. 👍
