In my book, one of the absolute best old-school comedians out there is Chevy Chase. Unlike today's super boring romantic comedies or those pointless film noir types, Chevy Chase movies are those classic comedy gems that always leave me cracking up. For anyone who isn't aware, Chase kicked off his comedy career on "Saturday Night Live" before turning it into a string of massive hits throughout the late seventies, the eighties, and the early nineties. He’s the kind of actor who really leans into family-friendly stuff—specifically comedies—which is actually why he turned down a role in the future hit "American Beauty" (that part eventually went to Kevin Spacey). It’s also pretty well known that Chase used to get himself banged up or even broken during filming; he once nearly died from an electric shock while shooting "Modern Problems" back in 1981.

It would be seriously awesome if PBS ran a marathon of his films, specifically these:

1. Caddyshack (1980)
2. Seems Like Old Times (1980)
3. Under the Rainbow (1981)
4. Modern Problems (1981)
5. Vacation (1983) - Clark Griswold 😁
6. Deal of the Century (1983)
7. Fletch (1985)
8. European Vacation (1985) - Clark Griswold 😁
9. Spies Like Us (1985) - a legendary flick starring Chase and Dan
Aykroyd
10. Three Amigos (1986)
11. Funny Farm (1988)
12. Caddyshack II (1988)
13. Fletch Lives (1989)
14. Christmas Vacation (1989) - Clark Griswold 😁
15. Nothing but Trouble (1991)
16. Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1992)
17. Cops and Robbersons (1994)
18. Man of the House (1995)
19. Vegas Vacation (1997) - Clark Griswold 😁

So, go ahead and cast your vote on the PBS forum to help get PBS to pick up the rights to all, or at least some, of these movies. You can vote here

A total legend... Caddyshack, Funny Farm (can't recall the actual title, but it was one of my first VHS tapes), and of course National Lampoon... definitely some of the best comedies from that era 😉

I finally picked up Fletch today, and I can honestly say I'll be sitting through this one at least five or six times in a row without even hitting pause.

Fletch is absolutely hilarious 👍

I remember watching it when I was maybe 13 or 14, and I was literally laughing my head off at those ridiculous names he kept coming up with 😁 (like Dr. Rosen Rosen 😁, Igor Stravinsky, Harry S. Truman, or John Cocktolstoy)

Seems Like Old Times feels like the second movie I ever watched... EVER... probably when I was about 6 or 7 and finally moved on from cartoons... so that film holds a lot of sentimental value for me 🙂

(Totally random side note, but the first one was Lone Wolf McQuade, haha)
