Following those instructions, I submitted two reports yesterday and the day before.

The first one was about this post which clearly clashes with the recommendations found in the social science subforum rule. 05/24/2013. I won't go as far as saying it breaks the rules, but at first glance—especially once you actually click the link—it lacks basic literacy.

It’s not my place to tell the moderators how to do their jobs, but you’d think a post like that would bother them at least a little. 🤷

The second report covered the entire thread: if a subforum has "science" in its name, I don't see why threads that belong in "all sorts of things" should be allowed there. Unless there's another subforum specifically for "I read/heard something, let's chat about it." On the other hand, if the moderation policy is to tolerate posts like this under the "social sciences" umbrella, then fine. However, I also reported the whole "discussion" (using quotes because it isn't a discussion) as being incorrect and off-topic.

I get that Daniel is busy and that Nica, as the sole admin, carries the weight of the entire Forum, but I thought reports would at least get a reaction. Apparently not. 😢

So, it seems there's nothing left for me or anyone else to do but stir up some "unnecessary drama" over on the main board. Hopefully, reporting it here will make it a bit more visible. ☕

The discussion was just as poor as the topic itself. Honestly, it’s not anyone’s fault that certain people fail to grasp that expressing political stances or aesthetic preferences isn't some personal affront—it's the literal subject matter for political science, sociology, psychology, or anthropology. Perhaps they might eventually understand that, though I’m not particularly optimistic about people who view the entire world through a strictly left-right lens.

There is a tiny little sub-subforum called "on the edge of politics" (though personally, I think most of this belongs here) where a topic like this could really flourish amidst endless reading, replies, thread closures, bans, and sponsored ads popping up in between. But hey, when someone wants to wrap their regressive views in a veneer of intellect or legitimacy, they inevitably push them into forums with "science" in the name... 🤷

Drama on this forum usually escalates into an ancient Greek tragedy where everyone ends up dead.

I've had a chance to look over all the submissions, so thanks for those. I’m keeping a close eye on the threads and I'll definitely jump in whenever I feel there's something worth weighing in on, just like I always do. They aren't exactly perfect for the CIA, but honestly, there's no huge rush to take action on them right this second.

I see you decided to at least scrub the inappropriate posts. If this thread served any purpose at all, it wasn't in vain. Thanks for that. 🙂

And again—it’s not my place to say, but I hope you haven't been handing out bans like candy. It can start to feel like that's the primary goal of moderation.

I hope you'll at least give Moor a heads-up to be polite enough to fix his typos. He needs to change *German to German. ☕

It reminds me of my former neighbor's son. When she realized he was writing Greek and Roman with lowercase letters, he just shrugged and said, "It's just history!" 😍

But seriously, if neither you nor Daniel have the time or expertise—and clearly you don't, otherwise Social Science wouldn't look the way it does—why not put Joseph Bailey41 in charge of fashion? Here is Daniel's statement, and here is her offer. Unless she did something majorly wrong against the Forum, which I don't know, but I assume you guys do.

I really hope they get the point—that having just one new (old) moderator isn't enough. As Daniel has pointed out several times himself, he can't handle it alone, and rustydrifter10 doesn't quite have the expertise yet. I'm rooting for you. 👍

Alright, folks. You can carry on like this at any other appropriate location moving forward. 🙂 I’ve rolled out a new mode, so everything should be running much smoother now. Just give me a shout if you run into any issues that aren't easily fixed.
