I honestly think Cleveland only keeps its "rock city" reputation because of how successful things used to be.. it’s honestly embarrassing that in a city like this—where people actually want music that isn't just mainstream pop—there are only two or three spots to go out.. and even then, most people would rather just hang out in a park.. 🤣

Regarding the bands: For example, you forgot Father (they recorded an Inspirit album and did two tours in England plus God knows how many shows across Europe), One Piece puzzle, DNR (who are playing at this year's metal camp alongside stars like Motörhead and Sepultura🙏 ), Downfall (working on their first album), the recorded a popular compilation "passionate Cleveland citizens" featuring several bands, etc., etc.! Not to mention Mandrill, who recorded (if I recall correctly) their second album.
As for places where you can "escape the mainstream": Booka👍, Neighborhood, guinea pig, Stereo, Mariscina, Louise, Arca Fiuman, Aunt Roža... and five of those are active concert venues!!!! I'm intentionally leaving out the retro pub (where they obviously play too) since I haven't been yet, so I wouldn't know. And those are just rock venues(!) If you count the spots with quality electronic music (not just commercial parties), you could easily add another 2 or 3 to that list! So my eight spots are just a little more than the two or three you claimed we had!
Life and the scene in this city have never been better!! Just think about it; less than a month ago, there was a massive event at the waterfront that hosted global megaimena in electronic (Pendulum) and rock (NoMeansNo)... not to mention Zion Train and the rest of the crew! Not long before that, there was Hartera! Two festivals that were just a dream four years ago!! Add in a few smaller festivals (Krik—which covered both electronic and rock👍; then the new Rooka, the standard RiRock and guitar jams, and the Hip hop festival at Stereo) and (I know this for a fact😁 ) you'll see that organizers actually had to be careful not to schedule shows on the exact same day THREE times(!!!!!!😲) just to keep up with the sheer volume of events!!😎
So, I think that's plenty of arguments to prove you're wrong (even if I could keep writing for hours)!
