My kid is 9. He’s obsessed with Roblox—building his own worlds, designing avatars, clothing, whatever it is, I can't quite keep up... he even sells his creations for in-game currency. It’s not like he’s minting gold bars or anything, but people buy them, so it's a thing.
He started a YouTube channel about two years ago. He's sitting at 95 subscribers now, which I think is actually pretty respectable for his age. When he hits a wall, he just consults Google or Wikipedia if I don't have the answer, or uses YouTube tutorials when he gets stuck. If he needs specific code for his Roblox builds and doesn't know how to write it from scratch, he just finds existing code and adapts it.
I guess I'm sharing all this just to give you an idea of how his brain works and how independent he actually is.😉
The boy is on the autism spectrum. For me, technology feels like a viable career path down the road... maybe even a way for him to have a "normal" life.
Oh, one more thing—we have a Lego Mindstorms EV3 kit lying around the house, but we haven't actually sat down to mess around with it yet.

So, what programming language should we start with? Should we stick to something basic like scratch? Or jump straight into something more heavy-duty?
Language isn't an issue. English is his primary language, and he doesn't really speak or write anything else since we live abroad.
