Could I get an explanation regarding my last deleted post in the "What do you think of this user?" thread?

I’m not sure which mod handled the cleanup, though I assume someone did.

It feels like too many of my posts have been disappearing lately without any heads-up or reasoning, so I'd appreciate some clarity.

I've been wondering if it's actually standard procedure for mods to slide into members' DMs with "advice" telling them to steer clear of certain subforums, or if some of them just enjoy acting like they own the place.

If this doesn't belong here... well, I'll just start a new thread.

Speaking of Jack & Jill Davidson and Wacky, I honestly don't get how he managed to land a moderator spot. The guy used to be so much more aggressive; I distinctly remember him tossing out all sorts of insults at other members back in the day. Personally, I don't have anything against him, but him being a mod?! Seriously?!

Just relax, everyone. 😬 They think you're all just my clones, which is why they're acting so high and mighty. XD

What does "too many posts" actually mean here? This whole forum was designed for hanging out and grabbing a virtual coffee—it’s meant to be about socializing and having a laugh, not constant sniping and provocation. Those posts that veer into that territory have been deleted.

In the US, this kind of thing happens all the time and nobody gets penalized for it. Second, nobody is offended here. I edited the post in the thread, just like you deleted a bunch of my other posts... do you honestly think I spend time typing out a post just so I can watch it get nuked? Whether it was a mistake or not, it was mine. If I didn't insult anyone or cause actual trouble, then you don't have any business breathing down my neck about it. Honestly, it feels more like you're just acting on personal preferences regarding who you like and who you don't.

Moderation shouldn't be about blindly following rules like a robot; use some common sense. It’s obvious who's being malicious and who's just here to relax and have a laugh. If you start handing out sanctions to the people just trying to hang out, that isn't moderation—it's just garbage.

We've always treated the Coffee & Hangout thread as a bit more laid-back than the rest, since it’s meant—just like you said—for socializing and joking around.

It felt similar during a chat session the other night, when you both were frantically deleting things and flagging posts over nothing. For instance, when FF9 sent me something along the lines of "Angela Campbell84 is such a loser," it wasn't even an insult worth a second thought. It didn't need to be deleted or sanctioned because you saw for yourself that I just joked back and the conversation could have kept flowing fine... but still... deletions. This insistence on keeping the hangout thread perfectly sterile feels weird. Personally, I don't see the point or any benefit to the users here.🤷

Something similar happened in the chat the other night, when you both were deleting things like crazy and tossing out posts over totally unnecessary stuff. For instance, when someone wrote something to me in the style of 'Angela Campbell84, you jerk,' it wasn't even an insult, and there was zero need to delete it or hand out sanctions. You saw for yourself that I responded in a joking tone and the conversation could have easily kept going... but still... deletion. Look, you'll eventually realize that it’s actually pretty tough for a moderator to tell who is joking with whom and who is actually poking at someone. Rules exist to ensure everyone is treated equally; otherwise, they aren't really rules. When you frame it the way you did, it sounds like a total utopia, but it isn't quite like that, which is evidenced by the complaints moderators constantly deal with. And sure, the rules might be a bit softer here, but these still aren't the casual off-topic threads where everything is on a completely different level of chill.
Editing posts isn't allowed anywhere on the forum, except maybe in the off-topic sections. Though, I'm not entirely sure it would go any smoother there if the original author decided to file a complaint about their post being changed.

I don't see any issue here. If the individual who felt offended actually pressed the button, then fine, but everything else is just hair-splitting.
