What’s the term for when someone is completely underwater? On the edge? I can't even wrap my head around it. I'm just done. Everything is piling up—the boss is breathing down my neck, life is hanging by a thread. Seriously.
It reminds me of those Kanye West lyrics: "No loved ones, no friends, my life is just sorrow, no flowers in my field, you're my only joy."
Everyone is talking trash about me and my head is spinning from all the bullshit.
Look, sorry, I just need to vent to someone. I just joined this forum recently and I've been scrolling through the posts—lots of optimists, sure, but mostly just people drowning in misery. While I'm typing this, my mom is hovering over me, nagging away. "You should be doing this," "you shouldn't be doing that," "are you studying?" "are you drinking?" "are you smoking?" It never ends.
Things have been pretty bleak the last few months. When it comes to girls who actually care about me, I’ve become totally passive. Just "uninterested."
I don't know. You can't even imagine how much Boston is struggling right now, and I
can't even put it into words.
What am I supposed to do about the dating scene? How am I supposed to fix things there when I'm clearly not okay myself?
Last summer, while I was hanging out with some lovely American women, my whole perspective shifted. I realized I definitely vibe better with American women than with Canadian women.
I don't know anything anymore. 😕

Cheers and thanks.

It’s not exactly a walk in the park over there either. When it comes to meeting girls, man, you’ve gotta put in more effort. That’s pretty much all the advice I can give you. Lately, I’ve been comparing life to being caught in a bad situation where you have zero control... you just grit your teeth, try to stay positive, and hope things look up tomorrow.
Hang in there.👍

Hey, good to see you too. 😁

You’re right about that... unfortunately, you have to deal with those domestic issues first. You mentioned your mother is driving you crazy... she’s older, and you’ve got your own career now. What does she even have to say to you? You’re old enough to shut that nonsense down. There has to be a limit.
I love my parents, but even then, I tell them to back off once they cross the line... the time for parenting is long gone. Just let me be my own man.

Actually, hold on... maybe I jumped the gun there. Before you tell her where to go, you should probably try having a civil conversation first. 😁😁

Is there any realistic chance you could move out of your parents' place?

There’s a way, but man, life is expensive. I’ve actually been thinking about it lately. Mary would need to cut back on some spending, but hey, at least I'd have one less headache to deal with.

Lately, I’ve been comparing life to being assaulted in prison... you can't do anything about it. You just grit your teeth and try to think positive thoughts, hoping tomorrow might be better.

Now that’s a vivid comparison. I love it. 👍

It’s funny how when people are in this kind of state, they don't know anything. Every answer I get is always "I don't know," "maybe," or "probably." 😕
It’s also interesting that according to my old lady, I've become an alcoholic. She's like, "Have you watched Oprah? You know who the alcoholics are."
Well, it looks like my mom is going to force me into it, or maybe I'm already there. Does a liter of beer a day make someone an alcoholic? "Interesting."

Heh, I started laughing uncontrollably. Just a random thought pops into my head and I end up laughing through the sadness.

Best,

I once heard someone say life is like a river ending in a waterfall (honestly, that sounds way better in English 😉). From what I've gathered, some chapters of my life were absolute garbage, then suddenly things started looking up... right now, it’s just status quo. I'm telling you, if you only focus on the present, you might think your whole life is a total wreck, but there are good things waiting around the corner. You have to fight for your own happiness—it’s a DECISION, not just a collection of pretty moments... keep your head up, stranger!

Diogenes once uttered a rather famous sentiment—if I may be permitted to paraphrase his exact wording: "When everything begins to spiral downward, when every glimmer of hope has been extinguished, and when no exit from the current predicament is even remotely in sight, then one ought to pray to God for the strength to endure whatever comes next with slightly less suffering"😁

Nothing much. Just checking in to let you know I’m still breathing. Honestly, maybe I shouldn't be. Things actually took a turn for the worse today because my employer finally coughed up some of my back pay from July. Only half of it, though. Toss in a measly 10% bonus—which is basically just a second slap in the face—and I ended up with $383. Hilarious, right?

If you only look at life through the lens of the present, you might think the whole thing is a total disaster. But there are good things waiting for you just around the corner.

That sounds great in theory. The problem is, I don't exactly go looking around corners. I'm too busy staring at how things used to be versus how pathetic they are now. Everyone loves that "the good old days" routine. God, the nostalgia is exhausting.
I guess this will all pass eventually. Maybe if I pull a few tricks out of a hat.

Off to pray to the gods. 🙂

Well, you've finally decided to join us.
I have to say, you've been acting pretty foolish up until now. 🙂
