Damaged nasal lining

Lately, my nasal passages have been giving me hell. It’s this intense stinging sensation combined with constant dryness that tends to linger for a few days at a time. On top of that, I'm dealing with excessive congestion—my nose feels stuffed up almost constantly. Strangely enough, though, I can still breathe perfectly fine without any obstruction.

It’s baffling because I haven't touched a single nasal spray or anything remotely similar recently. If memory serves, I’ve probably used nose drops maybe three or four times in the last decade. I don't have issues with allergies, vision, sinuses, or anything else that usually links back to nasal irritation.

I don't feel like this warrants a trip to the doctor just yet, but it’s getting incredibly annoying. Anyone else dealt with something like this?

Maybe it’s because you’re stuck in a room with bone-dry air—you know, from the heaters or the AC running constantly?! 🤔 Or maybe it’s an allergy... could be anything, even just some damn dust floating around in your room. 🤔 😕

That was exactly how it started for me about seven and a half years ago...

I react to grass, dust, maple trees, jasmine, and even a little bit to cats—though I’d never give up my own kitty!

It’s so true!

Mine started out just like that, and now I've developed allergies to dust and ragweed too.
I'm also reacting to certain molds, and just a few days ago the skin on my palms actually started peeling, but honestly, I just can't bring myself to go see a doctor right now.

The only way to know for sure is to get a referral for allergy testing. You can get that done in a Small town in the Midwest. My ENT gave me my referral back in January, but I still haven't found the time to go.

And the doctor is a real genius. He finally suggested an allergy test after I've been dealing with sinus issues for ages and underwent a sinus endoscopy last summer—which was a minor procedure—yet nothing has changed. Which means things are still bad.

It’s most likely an allergy—I deal with allergic rhinitis myself, so I know those symptoms all too well. 🙄
Definitely go see a doctor, but in the meantime, just grab some saline solution or a sea water spray from the drugstore—it should only run you about five or ten bucks. Using that as a rinse or a spray can really help 👍

My nasal lining has been swollen and covered in little sores for a while now. Called my doctor today—she suggested trying some Neosporin first, and if things don't clear up in a few days, I'll head back in so she can probably write a referral for a nasal swab. Anyone else dealt with this? What am I looking at here?

As for me, I’ve got those raw spots that bleed every time I try to clear away the crusting or mucus... it honestly hurts. My nasal lining feels completely trashed. I tried using Flonase—I think that's how you spell it—and my doctor actually thinks that was the culprit behind the irritation. Right now, I'm just applying some aloe vera and seeing if that does the trick. I suppose the tissue will eventually just knit itself back together. For now, I've stopped all nasal medications entirely, and frankly, I don't plan on ever touching them again as long as I live. Cross my heart.
