Hey there,

I went ahead and grabbed these memory modules on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/351275464321
I let myself get distracted by some random online threads and completely ignored the warning that these are "AMD only" and won't play nice with every Intel chipset. I just assumed DDR2 RAM was universal... how naive of me.
Now, back at my place, I have Asus motherboard and an Intel Q9550 CPU. Ever since I popped these modules in, I've been getting nothing but the Blue Screen.

Does anyone out there actually know anything about fixing this mess?

Not a chance. You bought "high density" RAM that your motherboard clearly isn't designed to handle. You aren't the first person on this forum to run into issues with those sticks from eBay.

Basically, the fix is just some deep-dive Google search 🙂

Piece of cake. Back during the DDR2 era, a bunch of us on this forum used Kingmax RAM all the time. We rarely ran into compatibility issues and they hardly ever died on us, so I guess they’re a pretty solid choice.

Even the DDR3 Micron sticks aren't bad.👍
