Dealing with Enterococcus faecalis?

I caught this bacterium and it seems like I just can't shake it. After six months, my Pap smear came back abnormal again, and my swabs were positive for the bacteria. I’m really looking to hear from others about their experiences—how did you fight this thing, how long did your treatment actually last, and what kind of medication did you end up using?
My doctor just prescribed me Amoxicillin, a one-week course, and that was it. She told me my boyfriend doesn't even need treatment since men don't carry it... Honestly, I'm just exhausted by the whole process. It feels like she rushes through my exams in five seconds flat, barely explains anything, throws a prescription at me, and then there's the lack of any follow-up care...

I dealt with that bacteria recently. Just knocked out a course of Augmentin and I was good to go, no biggie. 😉 It’s not even that dangerous—at least that's what my OB-GYN told me.
Personally, I'm struggling with this Klebsiella situation that just won't budge, no matter what antibiotics I take.

So, following some advice from Brandon Fowler4, I'm going to start drinking Acidophilus yogurt. Maybe give it a shot? Supposedly helps with all those urogenital infections.

As far as that goes, I'd say just find a new OBGYN. Seems like she isn't exactly being responsible here.
From what I know—and based on what my doctor told me when I caught a bacterial infection—he needs to be treated too, otherwise you're just gonna keep passing it back and forth like a game of ping-pong.

How did your boyfriend handle his treatment? Did he end up seeing a urologist or something else?
You can pick up Acidophilus at any local pharmacy, right?

You can find Acidophilus at any pharmacy, but honestly, you're better off checking out Marina.lab directly—they're the ones making it. Just Google them.

My guy ended up getting the exact same antibiotic I did (since he absolutely refused to go get a swab tested), so now we’re stuck wondering if he’s actually cleared or not. Since my infection just won't budge, I finally talked him into getting a swab done, probably sometime next week. It’s really the only way to know for sure if the bacteria is still there and get an actual sensitivity report to see which antibiotic actually works.

I don't think that bacterium is exactly "safe"—I've heard it can actually be worse than E. coli

Might be worth getting a urine culture checked, too, since it tends to break through the cell barrier
