Right at the start of the new year, the war drama Defiance, starring Daniel Craig, is hitting US theaters in a limited release. The rollout across the USA is set to kick off on January 16th. Along with Craig, we've got Liev Schreiber (who plays Sabertooth in the upcoming Wolverine movie) joining the cast. The story follows three people of Jewish descent fleeing occupied Poland into the Russian wilderness to join the resistance movement. It's being directed by Edward Zwick.

Given the director's track record, I'm expecting a massive dose of overblown sentimentality.

No way, Craig looks straight up like some gritty insurgent in this shot. Honestly, I'm only watching this for him... 😁

I feel the same way. Honestly, I have zero intention of watching this.
I remember starting Blood Diamond once and having to turn it off halfway through because it was just too much.

Just finished watching it. It’s a solid enough flick if you're just looking to kill some time, and honestly, it’s got a few moments that remind me of those classic John Wayne or Clint Eastwood vibes. 😁

Blood Diamond, Glory, and The Last Samurai are all top-tier movies in my book. I've got a feeling this one's going to be just as good too.

You called it—it was nothing but cheap sentimentality. Honestly, I think I'll be blacklisting Zwicko from my watchlist...

The opening holds some promise. That scene where he breaks into the house of that collaborator working with the Nazis? Now, that was actually pretty gripping. But honestly, after about thirty minutes in, the whole thing just starts sliding downhill.

It’s honestly getting pretty obvious that Lev Schreiber is starting to steal every single scene he’s in. Even with blonde Bond right there, you barely even notice his acting because his character looks so incredibly washed out...
