My laptop just died mid-task a little while back. When I try to boot it up, the fan kicks into high gear for a second—almost sounds like it's struggling—before settling back down to its usual quiet hum. The Caps Lock light flickers occasionally, and the wireless indicator stays lit, but the screen is just... dead. Total blackness. I’ve already tried pulling the hard drive, the RAM, and even the wireless card, but nothing changes. No life. Any idea what's fried inside this thing? Appreciate any leads or suggestions you guys can throw my way.

Motherboard's probably toast..

I was browsing the Dell support pages to figure out what this blinking CAPS LOCK light actually means

Continuous blink
AC power adapter LED
Power adapter
Insufficient power

Basically, it’s signaling a power deficiency—but here's the kicker: I'm seeing the exact same error whether it's running on battery, plugged into the adapter, or just running off the adapter with the battery removed

So it’s claiming there isn't enough power being supplied, yet the exact same thing happens whether I'm on battery, plugged in, or using the adapter without the battery.

Dell... Holy Pooh... 🙂

Either way, it’s headed to the repair shop. It could be a faulty voltage regulator component, or maybe the charging port just detached from the motherboard.
