Dell Latitude running Ubuntu

Hey everyone... quick question for you all. A buddy called me up earlier asking if I could help him get Windows running on a new laptop he just picked up. I told him, "Sure thing, bring it over." So he drops it off, straight out of the box from Best Buy. I unbox it, looking for driver discs or anything similar, but there's nothing. Then I spot an Ubuntu sticker on the chassis. I power it up and, yep, it’s running Ubuntu. Now, the guy doesn't have a clue how to navigate that OS, and honestly, neither do I. He’s almost certainly going to demand I swap it over to Windows. So, here's my dilemma: can I actually install Windows on this machine? And if I do, am I going to be able to hunt down all the drivers online without a headache? The laptop is a Dell Latitude.

Alright... I’m looking for some help tracking down these drivers. I snapped a few photos with my phone... the quality isn't exactly high-def, but you can make out what's going on.

The problem is, under the network driver section, there are like seven or eight different options listed. It's a total guessing game—I have no clue which one actually fits my Dell Latitude E-series. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Is that really the Dell Latitude E-series you're talking about? I honestly can't tell if it's just a regular 250 or the G1 version or what... I’m totally lost when it comes to laptops since I've never actually owned one, especially not a Dell Latitude.

Look, if that's definitely the machine, then you just grab all the drivers and go—why are you even overthinking this? Just make sure you check if your OS is 32-bit or 64-bit first!
You don't even really need all that diagnostic stuff or extra software.
It is kind of weird that Windows didn't just hunt down the drivers for you automatically... hmm.

And for heaven's sake, you have the Snipping Tool right there on your screen, so why on earth are you taking pictures of the monitor with your phone?

Anyway, somewhere in those specs it has to list the specific components inside the laptop, which basically gives you the answer to which drivers you need.
Since I don't know exactly which parts are tucked away in there, and it's way too late for me to be digging through manuals right now, just search for the specific component names online.

Basically, you just need the exact model name and the operating system you're running (like Windows 7 32-bit).

Honestly, you probably would've gotten a much better answer if it wasn't already 3:00 AM...😍 I'll swing back by this thread tomorrow and we'll see how things are looking.
