It looks like they aren't actually planning on freeing anyone—instead, they’re just setting the stage for some gruesome spectacle involving the bodies of those (soon-to-be) fallen English sailors, all while making sure the cameras are rolling for the show.

I was listening to the BBC in my car this morning... apparently, the Engezik news outlets are reporting that the Iranian foreign minister claimed if the Brits don't back off with their demands, that thuggish Englishwoman isn't going home to her three-year-old daughter after all...

It makes me wonder if Ataturk had it right... I mean, is Islam just the faith of an immoral Arab? And what about those immoral thugs who specialize in that whole Iranian shit-show routine? Why would they be known for anything other than genocide against Hesse's Zarathustrians... or that heroic defeat at the hands of Leonidas the Spartan at the eternally Islamic Thermopylae....

Look, you can't lump ancient Persia in with Hezbollah—especially not the Persia from 2,500 years ago with modern-day Hezbollah. And honestly, talking about Leonidas based on Herodotus—or even more so, Frank Miller—isn't exactly peak historical accuracy. The Spartans weren't exactly freedom fighters either (Sparta was a monarchy, not some democracy!), it was more about a clash of two different civilizations. Herodotus wrote from his own specific perspective, injecting ideas into the story that Leonidas probably never even dreamed of. And Frank Miller’s comic? That’s way more metaphor than actual history.

Hezbollah is actually a super recent movement, born in the 20th century under the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood. They basically tricked their way into power—I mean, Khomeini couldn't have even toppled the Shah on his own; he used the communists, socialists, and mujahideen to do the dirty work, then promptly shut them down, killed them, or kicked them out once he grabbed the reins. After the Islamic Revolution, the Hezbollah types went full "Arabization" on Iran. They banned Persian classics—for instance, Scheherazade is banned in Iran now. To give you a US equivalent, imagine if someone banned *The Great Gatsby* or anything classic American, and if you wanted to read it, you’d have to smuggle it across the border from Canada. They even stripped the Persian symbols off their flag and swapped them for a stylized crescent—kind of like if we took the Stars and Stripes and replaced it with some weird Germanic runes, like a double Sig rune or something. Just like all Islamists, Hezbollah wants to wipe out national culture. Even Hamas recently banned a collection of Palestinian folk tales because they weren't "Islamic" enough (we talked about this on the forum a while back). It’s a pattern. Islamism is an Arab imperialist movement; they go so far that in Germany, there are legal implications regarding a Muslim woman not being allowed to travel without male supervision beyond a distance a camel caravan could cover in 24 hours (yeah, we touched on that too).

Honestly, it’s not like Great Britain gives a damn about an full-scale conflict with Iran. I guess both sides will probably just settle things through diplomacy. The British aren't exactly looking to start a massive war right before an election, let alone go begging Team America for backup. Besides, the Persians aren't quite as reckless as their neighbors to the east.
Anyway, I think the UK definitely has enough capacity to manage a country that large, or even larger. Some people are smart, some aren't... so why even bother with this topic?
