I was watching some old highlights last night and it got me thinking about that awkward period every year where the excitement of a new season starts to fade into the reality of what the squad actually looks like. It’s that weird window where the preseason hype dies down and you realize just how much work is actually left to do before the real grind begins.
I always feel a bit of anxiety during this stretch. You see the new faces, you hear the optimism from the coaches, but then you look at the depth of the roster and wonder if we’re actually prepared for the long haul. It’s easy to be confident in August, but once the schedule gets heavy and injuries start piling up, that's when you see if the foundation was actually solid or just a bunch of preseason smoke and mirrors.
Do you think it's better to go into a campaign with a small, tight-knit group, or is it always a mistake not to have more depth ready to go from day one?
