I was driving through some old neighborhoods the other day and realized how much the local sports culture has shifted lately. I remember being a kid and the whole town basically shutting down on Friday nights. It didn't matter if you played or not; everyone was at the stadium, the concession stands were packed, and there was this incredible energy in the air.
It felt like the heartbeat of the community. Now, with everything being streamed online or people just staying home to watch highlights on their phones, that sense of collective local pride feels a bit diluted. I know things change, and obviously, technology makes following teams easier, but I miss that raw, unscripted feeling of a nail-biter game where the whole bleachers section is screaming in unison.
Do you guys think the "small town sports" vibe is actually dying out, or are we just watching it differently now?
