Does "authenticity" in acting even exist anymore?

I feel like every time an actor gets cast in something, they suddenly adopt a specific vibe or accent to seem more "grounded" in the role. It feels so performative sometimes, like they're just checking boxes to look more relatable. Do you think actors actually change, or is it all just a calculated move for the part?
