Electric Orgasm

The full version of the new orgasm album, "to be or not to be," has finally dropped. It’s a fascinating listen all around, especially if you’re a fan of the band’s early psychedelic era. There are 10 tracks on this one, which you can pick up at the local Dancing Bear record shop, or catch bits and pieces of it on YouTube.
Their last release, "new wave (live at the community center)," was actually quite solid, but this new record definitely outshines their previous two studio efforts, "harmonizer" and "a um bum," which felt a bit lackluster to me. On this particular album, my top two picks are "yes yes yes yes" and "show me."

I think this is officially the first studio album they've put out here in the States in about 22 years.
The band is gonna be touring all over the US throughout 2011.

Man, I am seriously counting down the days until we catch one of their shows. They sound like a much more heavy-hitting, professional outfit now compared to that old Distortion stuff we used to listen to around here. As soon as Lou got back, I just knew they were going to pivot toward that classic style they had at the start of their career, and honestly, it sounds fantastic.

Hmm, if I recall correctly, their last release was right here under the Columbia Records label—that "Braco and the Sisters" album back in 1987.

Then they made the move over to NBC.

Ah, yes, I see that now. I suppose—though I'm really not in the mood to go digging through various websites right this second—one has to wonder: when exactly is the concert season scheduled to kick off here in the States?😛

Giles mentioned in a recent interview that they're looking to kick off their tour around March or April, and you can bet your bottom dollar that America will definitely be on the itinerary.

It’s the law. I can hardly wait for the concert... soon the Breakers will be playing at the Swamp too. It’s just a shame the best BG band isn't among the living anymore.

I caught them performing about two years back at the Deer Beer Festival right before Dinosaur Jr. came on stage—honestly, such a pleasant surprise! I’d definitely consider seeing them again, provided they don't play at a venue like a massive industrial warehouse or whatever, you know? Just hoping they don't hike up the ticket prices too much 😁
Oh, and get this—I stumbled upon a mention of them on a music blog and totally thought it was a typo! But no, seriously, The Voice of Istria reported they played a set over Christmas in a small town in the Midwest, though it was just a quick news blurb without any actual review of the show itself..

They were the headliners at the recent Xmas rock festival in Labin on December 25th, and if I remember right, Kawasaki 3p played on the same bill
As for HRV, they'll probably be touring starting in April, mostly throughout the summer

Giles played a few old hits at Applebee's about two or three months back... I just showed up for a regular Saturday listening session and ended up getting a full concert instead.😁

Man, if I had known, I definitely would have shown up too. Do you happen to know his setlist or who he was performing with?

Nobody really knew about it except for a small inner circle. Even the cover charge was standard—nothing crazy expensive...
Some group was celebrating something... apparently Giles is a friend of theirs, so he showed up and played a few tracks. Bogović was there, too. As for the backing band, they were some group from overseas that I’ve never even heard of.
They played about 6 or 7 songs... all the big hits. 😉

So, what are everyone's impressions of the concert? Personally, I thought it was excellent. They played with real intention—it wasn't just a collection of teen pop ballads (if I recall correctly, there was only one track like "If You Were That Strong"), but rather a smart mix of their classic rock hits and those psychedelic tracks. It was a clever setlist choice. It didn't feel like they were just going through the motions; you could tell they were actually putting in the effort, which created such a great atmosphere. They sounded tight, too. There weren't any glaring technical mishaps or sound issues, so all in all, it was very solid. Honestly, there wasn't much to complain about. Even the newer material held up well, especially those psychedelic jams. Generally speaking, this was a much better performance than their last outing back in 2007. While that one wasn't terrible, the shows from 2002 and 2003 felt like the band was sliding downhill, but today was a completely different story. I walked away very happy. They played about 25 songs. The focus was on the new album, along with tracks like "Lily Covers Lisbon," distortion-heavy pieces, and stuff from the first album. What really caught me off guard—which rarely happens with bands I follow—was that they played two tracks from Giles' 1988 album "now see to be able." Specifically, they did "yes or no" and "I'm Not Yours Anymore," but they performed them in this incredible new style that actually sounded better than the originals. They also threw in things like "Mental" and "butterfly," among others.
