I was wondering if anyone here knows if it's actually profitable to do electrical work in the US, how the billing usually works, and if there's steady demand for it right now.

It’s a massive payday, hands down. Honestly, the only real hurdle is actually landing the gig—unless you've already got some heavy hitters in your corner like an architect or a big-time developer. If you do? Go get it!

In my estimation, the most cost-effective route is working for Exelon
I know two individuals
you perform your duties at the firm and—supplementally—negotiate side jobs
my neighbors and I had all our connections and installations handled by guys from Electric City
when I visited Exelon, I specified my requirements; they drafted an official quote, presented it, and then noted:
we handle this privately as well—the work is identical, just at a lower price point
the real advantage is that they complete it during standard business hours
of course, everything remains strictly official, compliant with regulations, and leaves everyone satisfied
