Hey there,

I've been running Windows 10 on my desktop, but for about a week now, my computer has been throwing these annoying errors saying my email isn't working because the "data is outdated"... which, honestly, I don't even begin to understand, what could that possibly mean? It’s been acting so erratic, too—it’ll work perfectly fine for two days, then just completely quit for another two, and it absolutely refuses to update any of my mail settings. I actually just installed this email client about four months ago, so it should be brand new, yet here I am unable to send or receive a single thing because it keeps spitting out this error code: 0x80072f89. I should probably mention that the exact same email account works flawlessly on my phone, so it's clearly something specific to the PC... I tried doing a little "Googling" to find a fix, but all the results just point toward some kind of reinstallation process, which, if I'm being totally honest, sounds completely overwhelming since I have no idea what that even entails 😵. I'm just feeling a bit lost here... what am I missing?
If anyone happens to have a clue or could lend a hand, I would truly appreciate it 🙂

So, you're using the built-in Mail app in Windows 10, right? Have you tried just logging into your email through a web browser instead? It might be that the issue isn't actually with your account itself, but just some glitch with the Windows 10 app...

Yeah, the mail client is actually built right into Windows 10 as its own application... honestly, I'm a bit lost as to why you're thinking about using a web browser for this... especially since the only way I can get into my inbox is through the app I have installed on my machine (if I recall correctly right...)

I was thinking—whether you’re using Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or whatever browser you usually have open on your PC—you should be able to just log in to your email through there without any issues. Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with your actual email account itself; it feels more like a glitch within the Windows 10 app. It's probably just some weird bug in the software...

I tried to go ahead and reinstall my email client, but it keeps throwing that same error message right back at me... :/ once I hit a certain step in the process, it just tells me it can't complete the action, no matter what I do

Maybe your PC just missed out on that big "anniversary update."

http://tunecomp.net/how-to-check-if-...talled-or-not/

The other thing—and this is where things get sketchy with Windows—is that you might not have been signed into a Google account the whole time you've been using it.

I mean, Bill Gates really wants every single user synced up to the main database with their full legal name, even if they don't exactly advertise it that way by giving you ways to opt out. But man, you'll find that out the hard way when you try to use the Microsoft Store! If you aren't careful, they'll force a connection on you... honestly, what a joke.

And then, even if you *are* being careful and only logging into the Store app itself, once you haven't logged in for a while, they start throwing that 0x80072f89 error at you.

It's probably just that anniversary update issue, I guess.
