Regarding the PDF chat for World News.

It looks like everything was just wiped out. Honestly, I don't think anyone was being offensive, and I highly doubt any actual reports were even filed. This whole discussion is purely POLITICAL since the chat is hosted under the Politics section. I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look at this—maybe Nice could check it out?

If possible, could someone review what exactly was deleted and maybe explain why it was considered okay to clear it all out?

I actually have an answer ready for bluecyclist64, and I even set aside some specific time to sit down and prove exactly why they're mistaken. I feel like such an idiot, though—I just sat down here ready to finally hit send on my post, only to find out there's absolutely NOTHING left.

I was wondering if it might be possible to restore those deleted posts. I noticed that Red Shrike's contribution was removed, though I don't think he actually broke any rules. He just used the term "non-communist," which seems like such an overreaction, honestly. I suppose even bluecyclist64 could defend themselves against something that extreme.

So, I just noticed the discussion has been moved over to a different thread—specifically the one about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Honestly, what on earth?

I mean, I get that posts sometimes get migrated from a main topic to the chat because they mess up the flow of the conversation, but this is the first time in my life I’ve seen a post taken straight from the chat and slapped onto a serious thread like this:

It feels like a bit of a circus, if you ask me. Now, under the thread regarding the War in Ukraine, there’s a chunk of discussion about monkeypox that was pulled right out of the chat. I guess for some of the people talking there, it all makes sense, maybe. 🤦

And besides, I can't really respond to that user since they haven't actually said anything in the War in Ukraine thread—they don't have a single post in there. 🤦

PS

I was wondering, why haven't the posts regarding the election for the head of the Republican Party been moved over to the UK and Northern Ireland thread? It seems like it would follow the same logic used when the posts about Ukraine were relocated.

Also, shouldn't the discussions about Donald Trump be moved to the Mexico thread?

I guess I'm just curious if we're actually allowed to discuss politics here in the PDF World chat without everything getting scattered all over the place.

Just waiting to hear back on this.

Linda King said:I actually set aside some dedicated time to craft a rebuttal for bluecyclist64, specifically to demonstrate just how misguided their position really is. I feel like a complete fool now; I finally sat down to hit send on my response, only to realize that there isn't a single thing left to say. Everything has already been posted.

Honestly, I feel like an idiot myself. I’d love to give that a read.

Linda King said:I’d like to formally request that the deleted posts be reinstated. Looking through the threads, I noticed Red Shrike’s contribution was removed, yet I fail to see how he violated any community guidelines. He used the term "non-communist"—honestly, what a massive overreaction. It feels a bit much. Even bluecyclist64 could probably defend himself against such a terrifyingly controversial phrase.

Of course I can, though it doesn't mean my heart isn't heavy over the loss.

I find myself in complete agreement with my colleague—this whole situation is an absolute mess, orchestrated by an overzealous moderator who clearly lacks even the most basic understanding of their responsibilities.

Bring back the posts. And someone please finally explain to that clown of a moderator that this forum isn't his own private sandbox.

Linda King said:I’m honestly asking if they could just bring back those deleted posts. I see Red Shrike got nuked too, and I don't think he even broke any rules. He used the term "non-communist," for crying out loud. Seriously? I mean, I guess even bluecyclist64 could defend himself against something that ridiculous.

1. Look, you're spinning webs and dreaming stuff up again. That user didn't "get nuked" out of nowhere; it was mostly because of his whole vibe in other threads.
2. If people want to talk about Ukraine, we have an entire dedicated subforum for that.
3. I don't really care about the nonsense happening over there, but apparently, you and Uplakani were getting on everyone's nerves so much that people started clicking that little triangle icon. I just moved things around because I didn't feel like deleting them. And maybe someone from the Ukraine crowd will eventually start comparing greetings or whatever. So yeah, more drama and whining ahead...

bluecyclist64 said:I'm with the lady on this one—this is a total mess orchestrated by some power-tripping moderator who clearly hasn't a clue what they're doing.

Just give us our posts back and finally tell that amateur moderator that this forum isn't his damn sandbox.

driftingtinker said:1. You’re spinning conspiracy theories again. I guess the user "suffered" mostly because of their behavior in other threads.

I think I jumped to conclusions there, which isn't really my style. I realized later on that it probably wasn't even about that.
2. We have an entire dedicated sub-forum for discussions regarding Ukraine, and it's getting emptier because people just aren't interested in the topic as much anymore.

We also have a thread for the UK elections regarding the Republican Party, and that one is even more deserted. Does that mean I shouldn't comment on anything related to that in the chat, or else it'll get moved? Plus, we have Ukraine topics over in Women's Corner and in Military History and Technology... I think there might be some in Philosophy too. Those are all massive threads that you could just suck right back into this main chat, right? This is a general chat where the primary focus isn't the UK, Ukraine, Mexico, the Democratic Republic of Saint Thomas and Prince, or monkeypox—but any of those topics can pop up during a conversation. That's just how chats work, I suppose; there isn't a strictly set theme or a rule against off-topic talk.
3. I don't care about the nonsense happening over there, but clearly, you and Uplakani were getting on everyone's nerves, so someone clicked the little triangle. I moved it simply because I didn't feel like deleting it. And maybe one of the locals in the Ukraine section will start comparing greetings. Then there will be more tears and wailing...

I guess I'm struggling to see the logic in deleting something from the chat if the posts are polite enough to be moved to a more serious thread.

I would really appreciate it if the posts could just go back to the chat. Maybe let the discussion reach its natural conclusion, and if anyone wants to keep debating, they can just head over to the Ukraine PDF themselves.

I mean, I’m really not itching to get involved here, especially since I wasn't exactly feeling the whole vibe with HH, but those little details just tipped the scales for me. We’ve actually got an entire subforum dedicated specifically to discussions about Ukraine, and we try to keep things on track there because people tend to spiral off in the wrong direction—honestly, quite a few regular users over there have been sidelined lately and are basically just waiting for any excuse to stir the pot somewhere else.

All this talk about those little triangles you keep bringing up—honestly, I feel like these vague insinuations aren't really getting us anywhere. If someone filed a report, then all the flagged posts just get moved over to a completely different PDF. I guess I’m just a bit confused... did someone flag them for being off-topic or something?
I mean, usually, if there's an insult, it gets deleted entirely, it doesn't just get relocated.

driftingtinker said:I probably wouldn't step in myself, even though I wasn't exactly thrilled about the awkward situation involving HH, but those little triangles really changed my mind. We actually have an entire sub-forum dedicated specifically to discussions about Ukraine, and we try to be careful about it because sometimes people start drifting off in the wrong direction—I mean, quite a few active members over there ended up getting partial bans and they’re just waiting for a chance to resurface somewhere else..

In an ideal world, maybe all the threads regarding Ukraine on the forum would be consolidated into one single spot where we can keep an eye out for those users who were partially banned, but somehow that hasn't happened yet. Why? I guess it's because a few posts from the chat caused some issues.

On the Politics board, all the talk about UA stays strictly within the "War in Ukraine" subforum. Then you’ve got the specialized "Military History and Technology" section, which has its own thread dedicated solely to battlefield updates. Since they're obviously linked, stuff from one side tends to bleed into the other automatically, I guess. Outside of those specific topics, you won't find any UA discussions on Politics—just like how COVID-19 has its own little playground over elsewhere. Any issues with the rest of the forum are really just down to how the mods handle things there, but honestly, those two subforums are where all the heavy UA action happens anyway.

Have a good night, I suppose.

driftingtinker said:You’re spinning webs and chasing fantasies again. To be clear, that user didn't "fall" because of any single event; they simply collapsed under the weight of their own reputation, largely due to how they've behaved in other threads.
If you want to discuss anything regarding UA, please head over to our dedicated subforum specifically set aside for those topics.

I honestly couldn't care less about this specific subforum anymore. I was actually having a decent conversation with Linda King, but that’s been completely derailed by a bunch of mindless sports fanatics.

I don't particularly care for the local bickering happening over there, but it’s clear that you and the rest of that crowd have grown quite weary of the status quo. You were all clearly clicking away at those little icons out of pure frustration; I only moved the thread because I couldn't bring myself to just delete it entirely. Perhaps someone from the local community over in the US will eventually take it upon themselves to actually compare the various greetings. If they do, I suspect it'll just be more of the same endless whining and lamentation.

Please, don't project your own insecurities onto me. It’s quite unnecessary. If you ever found yourself forgotten or sidelined in the real world, I suspect you’d be the first one to break down in tears—especially if you tried carrying that same arrogant, pathetic attitude from this forum out into actual society. People behave poorly here because there is a chronic shortage of moderators, and frankly, Nixon's salary clearly isn't high enough to justify him wasting any time worrying about how people conduct themselves on a message board like this.

Well, thank you for that. You’ve gone ahead and demonstrated exactly how infantile you can be.

driftingtinker said:I wouldn't normally step in, even though I found that awkward little situation involving HH to be quite distasteful, but those small details ultimately tipped the scales for me. We have a specific subforum dedicated entirely to discussions regarding UA, and we make it a point to monitor it closely. We have to stay vigilant because things tend to spiral in the wrong direction far too easily. We’ve already seen several highly active members get sanctioned there, and they are clearly just biding their time until they find an opportunity to stir up trouble somewhere else.

Where on earth did you find any "fun" in dealing with HH? And what kind of nonsensical connection could those little kids possibly have to anything happening here? Is it really enough for someone like Antilles, Sale, or rowdytiger13—or some other stepmother figure—to flag a post just so you can delete it or move it nine hundred miles out into the middle of nowhere? What is the actual reasoning behind this? What exactly is controversial about our posts, and which specific forum rules were supposedly violated?
When someone flags a post, the moderator should actually take a moment to evaluate whether the report has any merit before jumping straight to deleting, moving, or issuing a penalty. It’s common sense. Honestly, I’ve seen other forums where they hand over that entire process to some mindless AI because the moderation is so poorly handled, but you’ve managed to prove that you don't have the slightest clue what either "evaluation" or "moderation" actually means.
Furthermore—why on earth should Guns N' Roses or I care about the partial economic fallout from the situation in Ukraine? We don't have any skin in that game, nor do we stand to gain a single cent from it.

driftingtinker said:I believe I have addressed all your concerns. Have a pleasant day.

You haven't explained a single thing; you've just once again demonstrated your complete incompetence at moderating this forum.
If you actually had any integrity, you would explain exactly what was problematic about our posts instead of just posting useless little graphics like some girl on Instagram.

To top it off, there’s that veiled threat of moderator action regarding such a trivial topic... What, am I not allowed to speak out against fascism over there either—unless, of course, it isn't Russian?

I’m honestly dying to know if anyone is actually trying to squeeze triangles into bluecyclist64's or Linda King's posts 🤔
maybe some former buddy who’s just got a weird thing for Stalinist tactics 🤔

driftingtinker, I can't tell if you were taking a shot at me when you mentioned people with partial brain function were debating Ukraine with the chat 🤷

and as for Linda King, does she suddenly find the moderation more annoying now that you were opening up all those threads specifically to tighten the leash on everything ☕

bluecyclist64 said:Does it really take someone like Antilles, Sale, rowdytiger13 or some other busybody reporting a post just for you to delete it or move it halfway across the country?

Correction on that inaccuracy—it’s called a snowflake : proud:
And I didn't report you; I'm just a woke snowflake, not some hall monitor.

Nicholas Watson said:really curious if anyone is actually squeezing triangles into Guns N' Roses posts

driftingtinker, I don't know if you were talking about me when you mentioned people with partialities debating Ukraine with the chat

and does Linda King bother you more with the moderation now that you're here opening more threads to increase the oversight
