Eye-catching!

My sweetie just took a direct hit right to the eye. I'm really looking for some advice from anyone who's dealt with this before—what should I be doing? Maybe a cold compress or something...

You need to head straight to an ophthalmologist if there's any vision impairment at all (emergency eye care at the hospital is available over the weekend). If there's bruising—like, if the white of the eye looks bloodshot—the doctor will likely prescribe some drops to speed up healing and prevent infection.

Ugh, everything is closed here in Canada until Monday. There’s this little red dot on my skin, almost looks like a tiny broken capillary. I've been using cold compresses on it—is that actually okay?

A cold compress might take the edge off, sure, but honestly? You should probably just listen to the advice and head to the nearest ER. This isn't something you mess around with. What kind of hit was it—what did they hit you with, and how hard?

Around here, they’re even working out in the orchards. Since we were all still young and reckless, we played around a little too much, and well... that's how childhood games end up turning into real life.

Got hit pretty hard in the eye with a hand about three days ago. My eyelid is all swollen up now, making my eye look tiny... I guess there's a chance I messed up a nerve? Anyone know when this swelling might actually go down?

Look, you can't guess at this—only an ophthalmologist can give you an answer. You really ought to go see a specialist immediately; the eye is such a delicate organ that anything from minor bruising to serious complications is on the table.

Honestly, it sounds like that bump on your eyelid is just a result of the impact. Eyelids are super thin and sensitive—they’ve got that loose tissue that just loves to trap fluid up there... it happens. As long as your vision is clear and you can move your eye around normally in every direction without any weirdness, you probably haven't messed with any nerves. But hey, if you're still feeling worried about it, go see a doctor just to be safe. In the meantime—just stick to a cold compress. 😉
