Not sure where this belongs, so I’m just dropping it here.

I’m knocking back over 2.5 liters of water a day, but I still feel thirsty all the time. Honestly, I can't tell if it's just this brutal heat wave or if it's some underlying health issue 😕

Lately, my diet has basically just been fruit and anything liquid—like soup, stew, chili... nothing heavy, definitely no bread, maybe half a plate at most. I just can't stomach anything that isn't juicy or easy to swallow. I didn't even realize how bad it was until my mom pointed out she hasn't seen me eat a "real" meal in a week. Now I'm sitting here wondering, is this just a phase?

I’m not on any weird diet or anything, and normally everything feels fine (just the usual stress and jitters), plus my energy levels are okay—though I take a ton of vitamins, so maybe that's playing a part... I just have zero appetite.😳 And even after eating soup, I still need to chug water.

Anyone else ever go through this? I'm worried that even though what I *am* eating is healthy, I'm not actually getting enough nutrition. Is it possible for my body to just function like this until I suddenly crave something solid, like meat, potatoes, or actual food you have to chew...?

It makes sense.

Just bump up your salt intake—that'll help you hold onto some water.
I mean, look, it’s totally fine to drink a ton when it’s summer because you’re sweating like crazy anyway.
Hitting up to 3 liters of water is perfectly okay.

Maybe your kidneys aren't functioning quite right...?

Are you noticing any other symptoms—I mean, is this really all there is, or have you picked up on any other changes over this past week?

It doesn't strike me as anything major, assuming that's the only issue...

People are saying all sorts of things. Could be blood sugar, could be kidneys, or maybe it’s just nothing at all

If you're hitting the bathroom regularly, you're probably fine. Also, don't go chugging water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning—some folks claim that spikes your glucose levels

Honestly, I’m just relieved nobody is freaking out thinking this is some major medical crisis 😁 It feels more like just one of those weird phases to me...

My kidneys are doing absolutely great, thanks for asking. And I checked my blood sugar recently and it was totally textbook.

Oh, and how am I supposed to bump up my salt intake? Sounds like a stupid question, but when I'm skipping the pasta or potatoes, I don't really have much of a chance to salt things heavily 😁 Is just adding a little extra to my salad enough? It's honestly miserable because right now everything I eat tastes like cardboard—and you guys know I live to eat.

I feel like such a kid right now 😬

P.S. I actually love nothing more than splashing some ice-cold water on my face first thing in the morning, like, straight up on an empty stomach 😕

Probably just the heat.
I've been leaking like a broken faucet for the last month myself 🙂

No changes here...

Actually: I tanned a bit, dropped a couple of pounds, and haven't picked a fight with anyone lately😁

Just slice up some tomatoes and throw some salt on them😉

Try taking small sips instead of gulping it all down at once. You want to hold the liquid in your mouth for as long as you can before you actually swallow.
It also really helps to keep a small pebble tucked under your tongue. 😎

Well, you could always just add some salt to your juice if you wanted to 🙂 though I’d probably suggest just grabbing a salty pretzel every morning instead 🙂

Maybe you should head over to the doctor and have them run a quick blood sugar test...
:/
If you really can't seem to stop drinking water all of a sudden...

SUGAR?
People with diabetes usually drink a lot.

A couple of hard-boiled eggs for breakfast—properly seasoned, of course—along with about half a liter of my preferred beverage.😁

I’ve definitely been drinking way more than usual lately.
Honestly, I don't think it's anything to worry about.
I've been studying like crazy this past week—just sitting there, hitting the books, and sipping on water constantly. I've probably been knocking back about a gallon a day.
I’ve noticed that by the time I brush my teeth and head to bed, I suddenly realize I’m thirsty and end up grabbing at least a glass or two. I guess since I'm constantly on the move during the day, I don't really notice how much water my body actually needs, and then once I finally settle down for the night, bam—my body demands it all at once.😁

Honestly, 2.5 liters isn't even that much. Everyone really ought to be hitting that mark, especially during these heatwaves.

I personally go through up to 5 liters a day—I know exactly because I buy those big 5-liter jugs from the grocery store.
For a while, I was actually a bit worried about it since I feel thirsty constantly and just can't stop drinking. I even went in for some tests to be safe. They checked my blood sugar, potassium, sodium, and kidney function, and everything came back perfectly normal. At this point, I think it's just a habit, and my body simply knows what it needs.
Now I'm thirsty again, but I really don't feel like walking all the way to the restroom... 🤣

But there's no way your body actually needs 5 liters every single day.😲 How much are you actually getting in? 😍 Are you doing intense workouts? Or are you just exceptionally large (tall and heavy)? Because 5 liters is seriously excessive—you're putting way too much strain on your kidneys.

I’m with everyone else on this one. I really don't think it's anything serious—could just be sugar or some other minor thing.
You know how it goes—the more you focus on one thing, the more it feels like an obsession.
Don't worry.

It isn't diabetes, just the heat. Just make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids, but don't forget to keep up your salt intake too, since you're losing NaCl through sweat

I have to admit, I’m struggling to understand how you all can dismiss potential diagnoses so casually... the only way to be absolutely certain it isn't diabetes is to actually get blood work done. In my view, it just isn't normal to feel constantly thirsty—especially when you're drinking massive amounts of water regardless of how hot it is outside. Of course, it might turn out to be nothing at all, but you won't truly know until you run the tests.
