Hi there,

First off, please excuse me if I haven't posted this in quite the right sub-forum...

Over the last three months, I’ve started dealing with some physical symptoms—specifically bouts of anxiety and nausea. At first, I honestly thought I had just picked up a stomach bug from something cold I ate and that my digestion was acting up. However, as time went on, I realized this doesn't happen randomly; it’s tied to very specific moments. Specifically, whenever I see the girl I'm interested in, I get incredibly nervous and hit with this wave of nausea.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this... Is this just those "butterflies" and nerves caused by being in love, or could there be a deeper issue at play here?

To be clear, I feel perfectly fine when I'm out with friends or in most social settings—it’s only an issue when she is involved. Whether I'm actually talking to her, just thinking about her, or seeing a text from her, the feeling hits. It's actually gotten to the point where I've started avoiding hanging out with her as much just to avoid the discomfort.

Is there any way to manage this?

Thanks in advance...

It’s a totally normal reaction—we've all been there, staring at our own feet or tripping over our words. You care about this girl, plain and simple, and that makes you feel jittery and unsure.

It's just your sympathetic nervous system kicking in when things get high-stakes. Your body goes into fight-or-flight mode: sweating, racing heart, shallow breathing, tight muscles, maybe a flush in your cheeks or that weird knot in your stomach... looks like yours hits the gut a little harder than most.

Don't sweat it too much. When that wave hits again, just take a few slow, deep breaths. Try to relax. Force a laugh if you can. Grab some water if it's nearby.

The best way to kill the nerves? Just talk to her. It’s not a life-or-death situation—she isn't going to bite. 😁

Haha,

Thanks for getting back to me—I’m feeling a lot better now.
I honestly thought it was something much more serious.

It turns out she really is the one for me, especially since I'm feeling this way because of her.

Thanks again.
