Fiber internet installation help

So, I just moved into a new rental, and ExxonMobil tells me that fiber optic service is available at this address—apparently, it’s been run right up to every individual unit. 🎉 When I asked if there would be any construction needed, the representative from ExxonMobil told me it shouldn't be an issue; they'd just run the cable through the existing conduits to where the router goes. Her colleague added that they might need to drill a small hole through the wall leading to the building hallway if there isn't already a dedicated fiber port.

The thing is, my landlord is pretty adamant about not drilling any holes, which makes me think I might be stuck with old-school internet—unless... is what I'm looking at in this photo actually a fiber optic port?

If it isn't, does anyone have experience with this kind of drilling? I'm wondering just how invasive the process actually is.

Maybe try explaining it to the boss this way: having high-speed fiber already installed makes the place way more attractive to potential renters or buyers down the road. It's basically future-proofing the property, right?
As for the actual work involved—they’ll be drilling a small hole near the entrance to run the fiber line through, and then they'll install some conduits along the walls to reach the spot where all the gear—you know, the media converter and the router—is going to sit.

Look, you might want to try sweet-talking the property owner since they really need to get that drilling done; the trench is clearly visible now. If the boss gives you the green light, just be prepared to lean on the installers and those folks over at ExxonMobil to fix whatever mess the contractors made in the first place.

It’s actually doable to run fiber through the old conduit used for telephone lines—assuming you still have functioning conduits and phone wiring in your setup... 😁
