Film Forum

This month at Film Forum (downtown), they’re running this documentary series—well, sort of. Screenings are every Thursday at 9 PM, and yeah, it’s free.

Here’s the lineup:

Oct 6th Sun Festival

Oct 13th The Naked Island

Oct 20th LAND OF SILENCE AND DARKNESS

Oct 27th Close Up

Just spent some time scrolling through the Film Forum site and saw absolutely nothing under announcements... Come on, give us some updates (or at least promise you'll actually show up here regularly to let us know what's coming) 😉

Most of the guys over at Film Forum are just lazy slackers—so from now on (as many 'u's as you can fit in one word!), I'm posting all my programming right here

Hey!

So, what’s actually on the horizon? Is there any real programming in the works?
I know they ran a whole series dedicated to Polanski last year, which I unfortunately missed 😢

Are we looking at any upcoming director retrospectives or author cycles?

I can't tell you anything about November since I’m off the clock. For December, though—I’ve got a few ideas floating around—Paradjanov, Oshima, a deep dive into American cinema (from the 20s through today), some porn, Herzog, Haneke, classic Hollywood, or Satyajit Ray.

Still figuring out the final lineup, but go ahead and vote. I'll probably take ☕
what you guys say into account.

A Japanese production, an adult film, Herzog

my take

Just please, anything but Herzog, I beg you! 😁

Hey, wouldn't it be great if they actually included something by Tarar? I noticed you were posting over in the thread about Satan's Tango...
I haven't had the chance to catch any of his work yet, but I'm dying to see something.

I took a quick peek at IMDb and saw that Satan's Tango is sitting at a pretty impressive 9.2 rating. 😁

Where can I find the schedule for Film Forum?
It feels like their website hasn't been updated in ages.
Seems that way to me...

I’m honestly a little worried that they won't have anything playing if they don't update the schedule regularly... Unless you just show up in person, maybe there's a list posted somewhere showing what's coming out at least a month in advance? That was certainly how it worked back when I used to spend all my free time hanging out there 😁

It feels like it’s been an absolute eternity since anyone bothered to update this site.
It seems that way to me.

Emmmmm...

Just forget about it, man. Or rather, forget about me.

🙂

No mercy for the heathens—show us the light!!

As for Tarra, yeah, good idea—but forget about Satantango. All I know is that thing dropped on four obscure VHS tapes through some shady distributor for like $400 a pop.

And next month? Beats me.
