Foreign object stuck in rectum

I attempted to perform a DIY enema this afternoon using a makeshift device I put together. In the process, a cap—similar to the lid on a large bottle of hydrogen peroxide from a local CVS—became lodged inside my rectum. I am at a loss as to how to proceed; will it simply pass naturally with my next bowel movement, or is a trip to the ER absolutely necessary? My apologies if this isn't the appropriate forum for such a matter.

Alternatively, is there any safe way for me to attempt to remove it myself?

Go see a doctor. They’re experts at finding ways to squeeze every last cent out of you. 😁

I appreciate the advice, though thankfully I didn't end up in the ER; I have a sturdy office chair to thank for helping me power through the discomfort, even if it wasn't exactly a luxury experience. That said, I suspect a trip to the doctor wouldn't have been much more pleasant. 😬

Just keep an eye out for any bright red blood in your stool. If you start feeling any sharp pains or if a fever kicks in, you need to head to the ER immediately. It’s possible there’s some mucosal damage going on or even an abscess forming, so don't mess around with that. 😢

Look, now that the immediate panic is over, just do yourself a favor and buy a decent, medical-grade irrigator next time.
Ideally, grab one that comes with a couple of different attachments—one for vaginal use and one for anal.
