Forum ads/promotions

Not sure if this is the right spot for this, but here goes: I get it. The owner wants to make a buck off ad revenue, and honestly, I’m cool with that. If I see something interesting, I'll click it, and hopefully, someone gets paid. But lately, these invasive ads have been popping up and completely hijacking my entire screen. You basically have to hunt around just to close them.
Here's my question: Is this stuff being run by the site owner, or did I accidentally pick up some malware or something?

If the owner is the one running these, I'm out. I don't mind ads, but I can tolerate them until they become THIS annoying.

Just install AdBlock and call it a day, problem solved.

You can just toss this code into AdBlock to get rid of that ridiculous column over here. 😉

I installed AdBlock, and now there’s this VPN icon sitting in the top left corner.

Do I need to turn that off, or is it just going to stay there permanently?

An iPhone? That’s standard behavior. Once you disable AdBlock and your VPN, everything will shut off accordingly.

It’s not just about the ads; the site keeps kicking me out right when I’m trying to type a post. I’ll go back to a thread multiple times just to read something or try to reply, and then—nothing.
So incredibly annoying.

I’m actually looking for some help here too. I do about 99% of my browsing on my iPhone. How do I kill these aggressive ads? They aren't even really advertisements anymore; the screen just goes white and the forum disappears, and it happens constantly. I’m forced to refresh the page every single minute just to read or write anything.
Can I install an AdBlocker on a phone? Any instructions for someone who isn't exactly tech-savvy?

The App Store is absolutely flooded with ad blockers. Just hunt down one that won't drain your bank account. Here are a few suggestions.
Alternatively, why bother? Just switch to a browser with native blocking built right in—something like Brave, or if you want to follow the advice in that article above, try a Google Chrome focus or some other third-party option.

Or, if you want to keep things dead simple: just stick to Reddit.
