Hey mods, if this isn't the right spot for this, just move it along...
So, I gotta know: can students actually snag Windows OS for free?
I checked with some girl working in the IT department over at UCLA and she told me straight up "no," but then I'm scrolling through stuff online saying you totally can... so now I'm just stuck wondering what the actual deal is...

Students can actually snag a free version of Windows OS by grabbing the GitHub Student Developer Pack, as long as they log in using their school's AAID credentials.
The catch is, it all depends on whether your college or university actually pays for the subscription.

Of course, the whole thing hinges entirely on whether one's university has bothered to maintain an active subscription to the GitHub Student Developer Pack.
