Well, I suppose the season of sandals and blisters has finally arrived for us all... 😠

First off, I find myself wondering about the actual science behind itβ€”why does fluid accumulate in a blister in the first place? Specifically, what causes that irritated layer of skin to lift away from the surface like that?

Secondly, I was hoping someone might suggest some simple, old-fashioned home remedies or perhaps some budget-friendly over-the-counter options that can help clear these nuisances up a bit faster.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can share! 😍

It happens because your skin keeps rubbing against something else, like a sandal strap or some other leather bit. Since skin’s got a little stretch to it, it doesn't just snapβ€”it stretches out instead, and boom... you've got a blister. And why does it fill up with fluid? Honestly, I'm wondering that too.

As for fixing itβ€”I don't know much about specific ointments, but from what I've seen, you shouldn't mess with it too much. If you tear the skin, you'll end up having to clip it off with scissors, and then you're looking at a total mess for a few days. Best bet is to just poke one or two tiny holes with a needle to let the fluid out. Do it a couple of times a day since it'll just refill anyway, but whatever you do, don't dig so deep that you have to cut the skin away.

(Wearing flip-flops always gives me a callus right by my fourth toe)

Poke it with a needle, drain it, then disinfect. If you have to, just grab some blister bandages at the drugstore. Just walk in and ask the pharmacist 😁
To stop the friction between your skin and those sandals, use Vaseline or some heavy moisturizer. I got that tip from a beauty forum once and I’ll be grateful forever. πŸ™

Honestly, I don't even know what a corn looks like. This thing on my finger might be one, but feels more like a blister... won't go away all summer long as long as I'm wearing flip-flops
