So, things are finally moving in the X-Men universe! We're getting a big-screen adaptation of the legendary Gambit. Production is set to kick off this October, and they'll be heading down to New Orleans early next year to start filming.
Channing Tatum is stepping into the role of Remy LeBeau, better known as Gambit—that charming card shark who figures out he can actually manipulate kinetic energy. Pretty cool concept, right?
Word is they’ve just opened up auditions for the movie casting, and they even put out some brief character descriptions.

Why isn't Taylor Kitsch playing Gambit? He already played the role in Wolverine. Look, I respect everyone's taste, but Channing Tatum has always come across to me as a bit dim—I won't go as far as calling him slow, but you get my point. This casting is a total miss. I have no idea who is pushing this guy through 👎

That's exactly what I was about to say. I just remembered Gambit from Wolverine because he was on TV the other day, and honestly, he was great...

And yeah, Tatum just has that look like he was born to play the meathead in a rom-com.☕

Honestly, I agree. Taylor Kitsch was great as Gambit, and I'd much rather see him reprise the role in this movie too.

If things actually go down that way, I’m really hoping they bring in Taylor Kitsch instead.

🙂 I honestly hope he just walks away from this. I don't need him ruining another movie for me. 🙂
Taylor Kitsch was actually great in Wolverine, and I'd love to see him come back. 🙂

Honestly, it’d be great if he stepped away. I could never picture him as Gambit, and he just wouldn't nail a part like that.

X-Men spinoff Gambit begins shooting in New Orleans
So, I was thinking back to November when Simon Kinberg confirmed that production on 20th Century Fox's X-Men spinoff Gambit will begin sometime this spring. He called the whole thing a "sexy heist thriller," which honestly sounds right up my alley. We already know Channing Tatum is taking the lead as our resident card-throwing hero, and Léa Seydoux portraying the female lead, Belladonna Boudreaux is officially set. Well, looks like we finally have some concrete timing—a new report from WGNO just dropped, and it turns out the movie will start production this March in New Orleans. Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me.
