Hey everyone.
A buddy of mine is looking to pick up a gaming PC for $2000. Since I’m totally out of my element here, I figured I’d let you pros build him a solid list. He doesn't need a mouse, keyboard, or monitor, he isn't planning on any overclocking, and he won't be needing an SSD.
Thanks!

Just toss in another 4GB of RAM later on and you're golden.

1 x Sapphire R9 290, TRI-X, 4GB, GDDR5
1 x AMD CPU Desktop FX-Series X8 8300 (3.3GHz,16MB,95W,AM3+) box
1 x GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P, AM3+
1 x LC POWER LC-CC-95, socket 775/1155/1156/AMD
1 x 4GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM Corsair Vengeance LPX
1 x Fortron Hyper 700W, 80+

Not sure how much you actually know about this stuff—you've only got 40 posts, so take that with a grain of salt. Anyway, what would an Intel build with 8GB of RAM look like for the same price?

Nice, nice. But why skip the R9 280x if you've still got $100 some extra cash left over?

It won't fit. Plus, you'll blow the budget by $33, and the 280x isn't even that much better than what was picked. Not worth the extra $133 difference

I guess adding another $33 shouldn't be an issue, I'll check with him. From what I can see, we're talking maybe 6-7 fps difference—honestly, whether that's worth it or not? Who knows.

Look, I already said I’m done with that behavior. I've said my piece, apologized for everything, and committed to changing how I carry myself. I'm hoping we can just move past this and get back to business as usual.

Once you've been burned ten times over, earning that trust back becomes an uphill battle—it’s just incredibly tough to rebuild. 😉

Man, that's wild. You might want to try holding off on the confetti for a bit.
